The snooze button is a false evil god. It makes you think you are getting more sleep. But you are not. It's a curse. It's a drug.

What, a perfect way to describe the snooze button! It made me smile when I read it. I guess I appreciate it a little more because I'm a geek.

Glad you came out of this in one piece. If you don't already have a carbon monoxide detector, please get one soon. I promise you we'll all sleep better at night if you do.

I'm with Lex. (Hi Lex!) I had a furnace problem a few years back. Mice ate the furnace insulation, it caved in, the resulting pocket of heat fused the burners, utility guy came to take a look and hung a "condemned sign on it" - at the end of December. I turned it back on after he left, out of desperation, but bought a carbon monoxide alarm on the advice of a friend. That alarm saved our bacon when it went off a few days later at 3 a.m.

The moral: Don't mess with bad furnaces, and no matter how expensive the damn things are, please invest in a carbon monoxide alarm. Sorry to evangalize about CO2 alarms, but that experience made a believer out of me.
