I am a glycolic peel addict. I love it and my skin feels great since I have started having a facial once a month and a periodic 6 week treatment of glycolic. I guess my skin has never been that bad but I get the hormonal breakouts that seem to take forever to go away and my derm gave me a script for metrogel. Does anyone know if I am ok using this with all my glycolic treatments and products? I love the info on this blog. Hope someone can help.

You guys all seem like you are finding way. I am 15 and people might think that I am still young and it will go away, but it doesn't seem that way. It is not like those pimples that pop up every month, its like badly scarring and red and all over my face, I cant believe this happened to me. It has been like this for 3 years and I tried dermatolgist, proactiv, herbal pills and treatments, all and I mean all the over the counter products. I have my cousin who is a doctor and reccommended Retin-A, and birth control pills, so thats what I have been on for about a month, there are no changes. I feel so bad at myself everytime I look into the mirror, I hate people looking at me. And I hate when they suggest things like I dont know to use a moisturizer, or wash my face, or go to a doctor. Ahhh! Can someone please just tell me that retin-a will work. If not I am going to Murad, and then to laser...I really dont want to, but its so hard!

Ok, so I know I'm not a woman, but being gay brings similar experiences :)

I've had skin problems for years...Retin-A worked in clearing it up for me, but the side effects were too much for me to handle, and I hated having to go through insurance to get it. I've tried like every product out there...the Clinique Acne Line, Neutrogena, Biore, Clean&Clear, Proactiv...all with nothing to show but worse-off skin. About 2 months ago, I started getting a facial every couple weeks, and use a combination of products from both Murad and Bioelements. I use the medicated Murad at night and the regualr Bioelements in the morning. I haven't had skin this clear or smooth since I was little!!

Another piece of advice is to be patient with your regimen - it may take a a month or a bit over to see significant results, but just give it time!!

Us girls aren't the only ones with acne problems. My boyfriend (who has tried everything) is dealing with acne AND a bad case of bacne. I love him dearly, and see how much this affects his self esteem (he won't take off his shirt at the beach to reveal his AMAZINGLY buff body) Sometimes the acne is cystic, sometimes it's not. I'm going to tell him about the doxycyclin. Maybe that'll work. Thanks for the help!
