Wonder whether you should have driven to the closest fire station or police station and started honking your horn until someone came out to help you. It's hard for any of us to be level headed with our adrenaline pumping hard so don't beat yourself up. From now on, it's probably a good idea to have an emergency plan, actually several of them (ie: 1. being followed in your car, parking lots, garages, shopping and 2. someone trying to "help" unload your shopping cart to steal your wallet, car or worse, force you in with him/her/them.)
