We have been married for almost 7 years and have owned our home for the last 5 of them. Someone at my company has been relocated and is looking to sell is gorgeous home, and optioned it to Hubby and I first. New home was definately not in our "plan" either. We decided to go look at it. OMG, it's perfect! Next thing we know we are pre-approved, meeting with realtors to list our current home, and all that. "Just looking" can be scary if you feel unprepared, but it can also bring you a wonderful oppertunity that you might not have found otherwise. Don't overthink the house, and just go with your gut. My boyfriend and I emailed a realtor last night about a house we want to "just look" at this week. It is not in the plan at the moment. The plan was engagement in April/May, wedding in October, house sometime late summer/early fall. But then I made the mistake of "just looking" at online listings and found this house that has some hard-to-find features that may make it perfect for us, is in our price range (the low end, even, though it will require remodeling...scary!), is below its market value, is in our ideal neighborhood,.. If you figure out how to cure the pit at the bottom of your stomach, let me know, k? Um, yeah. About just looking ... A few years ago, I went with my mom to "just look" at trucks. When we test drove one truck, she turned to me (sans the cheesy salesman) and said, "I'm not leaving without this truck." Five hours later, she drove home a shiny new more-than-she-originally-wanted truck. She loves it and doesn't regret it. I hope you have a similar experience! Two out of three ain't bad, but not when it's a forever kind of place!
