In Boston I was living with my boyfriend for a while when I was 21 and he was still 20. It was then that I had a particularly bad experience with long island iced tea at a bar and came home to the more-or-less *sober* boy who not only held my hair, but didn't complain too much when I went on to throw up all over him.

Sure, he laughed at me afterwards for a couple of weeks, but it was lovely at the time.

I was always the type of girl who'd yell "gethehelluhwayfrume" (and probably confuse everyone with my utterances) as soon as I had to go pay my drinking dues to the toilet.

My type of man will shut the door and have a glass of water near the bed for me when I'm through.

At least there's guys out there for every type, right? And not all girls are hogging the hair-holding types!

My senior year in college I happened across a freshman girl suffering the effects of overindulgence and had to lend a hand in this fashion. This being the early '80s, I actually had to lend two and could've used a third, but it worked out OK. After catching her breath, the girl, now a fairly well-known attorney around here who probably would prefer to remain nameless, turned to me and observed, "You know, I've got too much hair to be doing this."
