Gee, my tax refund will be spent on a lawn mower (homeownership DISCOS!), but if those are the shoes "in style" this year? I'd rather have the mower. Although likely we won't see the "fashionable comeback" for two more years. We're behind up in the midwest....

I loved my jellies. I think I had them in every color and was sad when I outgrew them. I do not think that it stunted my fashion sense. I do have the presense of mind not to buy into the huarache comeback. I, too, am thinking about what I am going to spend my tax refund on, the trifle amount that it is. Glad to hear you're ok, Fish! I was worried for you, as I completely can relate to the whole, "nothing is wrong, something must go wrong" mentality.

And weighing in on the hurache/jelly sandals discussion:

I remember vividly at 6 years old saving up my allowance to buy a pair of red jelly shoes from the center-aisle bin at Kmart. Prancing about the playground wearing those in the Florida heat just made those suckers little sieves of stinky foot mud. Ewwww.... Now I can see why my parents, who usually provided me with all of my footwear, forced me to save up and buy those petri dishes on my own.... *shudder*
