ain't no shame

Am poor.

Am v. v. poor.

Came home last night to emergency room bills from Great Rafting Accident of 2003. Oh, god. Is it not enough that had to pay nearly THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS to move? After paying rent tomorrow, will again be quasi-destitute and staring at empty refrigerator hoping that leftovers, left alone, will multiply by themselves.

Had contemplated abandoning this site and returning to the ever-so-free blogspot, putting an end to paying hosting fees, but instead, have decided to humble self and ask for donations. Any kindly donations will go straight to hosting fees and only hosting fees. Will not be asking generous readers to pay for this gal's toilet paper and Lean Cuisine. Any excess funds will be donated to the Greater Boston Food Bank.

There's a Make a Donation button to your right.

Mister, can you spare a dime?

instead of just shamelessly asking for $$$, why don't u actually offer something in return? like kerry, another blogger, who made necklaces for people in exchange of $20.

not trying to rain on your parade or anything.

Well, that is a very nice idea. Of course, if I had such talents, I'd already be exploiting them ;)
Besides, why not think of it as a tip for services already rendered? I mean, if people come here, read it, and are entertained and then want to donate, that's WONDERFUL and I can't thank them enough! But if not, well, that's perfectly fine, too!

i'm a girl with a 'make a donation' button of her own... i wish i could help, fish, but i'm in a similar boat myself. all i can offer is lovely words of encouragement as needed.

You might try finding someone with excess bandwith who will host you for free.

Or you can try one of the new blogsites like typepad or bloghorn.

Fish, I see nothing wrong in putting a donation button up, 'specially if the money will be used a) to keep me entertained or b) go to charity.

TheYeti has a point. If you raise enough here for hosting that is AWESOME, but if not, don't return to blogspot.. there are plenty of people who are willing to host other bloggers' sites on their domains. I've been off of free servers for two or three years and I've never paid for my own hosting or a domain.

I'm not the master of my domain, either .... I'm a "kept" man. Some mysterious woman offered me a room in her virtual apartment for free. Couldn't refuse it, although sometimes I feel a little dirty.

Maybe a temporary revamp is in order ... "This Fish Needs Spare Change" or something.

Hi, Fish:

I don't use a CC anymore so can't make an online donation. (I don't keep a CC 'cause I paid off all of mine and don't wish to go into debt while I'm still underemployed.)

Anyway, if you email me a snail mail address I could send a nominal donation. Nothing stellar. Just a little somethin' 'cause I do appreciate your blog.

Cheers,

Diana

Wow - $3,000 to move? In the same city? Impressive.

Sorry to hear about your empty pockets. Unfortunately, mine contain nothing but lint, either.

Niurope, Fish IS offering something via her blog, which happens to be unique in its expression - can't say the same for 99.9% of the blogs out there. Someday Fish will be writing novels... Fish, I wish I could donate something but I just donated $25 to a blogger running a 5K race for breast cancer and donated $300 to rescue an elephant (elephants are my passion) and I'm living on my overdraft right now...but when I can and if you still need $ I will.

I tell you what, Fish. If you repost the
original entry for last night, I WILL figure
out some way to make a tithe...I promise.

No "such talents"? Now, come on, Fishie, we all know that isn't true. I don't have a lot, but I bet I could pony up a few pesos, if a little "thong" was involved.

Love your blog very much, and I'll do what I can to help you out. ;) However, I'd be quite grateful if you might drop by my livejournal site sometime.

Wow, Fish. It's funny how asking for charity evokes everyone's tit-for-tat sentiments. Hello, guys, it's CHARITY.
