going...

The U-haul has been reserved. A boy to drive the U-haul has also been reserved.

It is T minus 2 days, 1 hour and 48 minutes until I leave the Monkey Firm forever. There's a box in my office packed with shoes (who has six pair of black shoes under their desk at work?), photographs and sundry items. And my Intern Extraordinaire is making a New York soundtrack for my going away party on Friday.

I’m going away.

It hits me from time to time that it's not just some silly scheme I've concocted, and that I'm actually, at the drop of a hat, changing everything and going away. Yeah, yeah, you're tired of hearing about it, I know. But I still amaze myself and that’s really all that matters.

Good luck! I've got my U-Haul reserved to move in my new place on Friday and start a new job in a quite different setting from my old one on Monday.

It's hard to comprehend on a continuous basis.

All change happens at the drop of a hat...its the amount of prep time that makes the difference.

Just did the same thing myself 3 days ago, so I think what you're doing is totally awesome. My move felt totally surreal and more like I was going on vacation than actually *moving* and *leaving* everything at the drop of 2 weeks' notice. I can't say the surrealness is gone yet, but there are definitely no regrets. I'm happy for you taking the plunge... and don't ever stop amazing yourself. ;)

Three pairs of shoes - one blue, one black, one brown. I walk to work and this way never have to cart shoes back and forth.

"All change happens at the drop of a hat...its the amount of prep time that makes the difference."

So true.

Best wishes, Fish!

Drop of a hat? What, have you blocked out the bad parts at your job?

(If you did, I need some lessons on how.)

You shouldn't just be amazed at yourself, be proud of yourself!

Going?? No no... coming. To NYC, to my hood, to all things new and intriguing. It's a brave new world m'love :)

If you're dealing with U-HAUL, be sure to check and check and check again to make sure the truck's actually there- a "reservation" to them is more like a suggestion.

I am not at all sick of hearing about it. I love it! I am all about people taking chances and following dreams, and I can't wait to hear how it goes.

Posted by: jennn at March 18, 2004 01:31 PM

yeah, that's all that matters to you.

good luck.

girl, I did the same thing 9 months ago. moved clean across the country, couldn't have gone any further or i would've fallen in the water!
it was the most liberating thing I ever did!
don't ever look back with regret, only look back to remember those important.
sending best wishes.
