Any plans I had of getting out and about before the nasty stormy weather hits have been put on hold by Kitten II who... get this... just poked me in the eye. You know, very Three Stooges like, jabbed me in the eye. Claws were involved. And now I'm sitting around the apartment, a Manhattan Weeping Madonna, giving Kitten II the evil eye with the one that still works.
I'm a few steps away from trading him in for a pet rock.

Posted by: Lex at May 9, 2004 12:18 PMI'm afraid I'm in "feel sorry for kitty" mode this morning. Yesterday we had two (of 4) of the cats at the Vet's with what they thought at first may have been a highly contagious virus which would have resulted in "putting them down." (What a phrase is that!) Actually, they turned out fine. They don't even have the same thing. They'll be well after a few days of meds. How long before I heal after giving two cats a few days of meds is another thing. Get well soon!
Posted by: Janet at May 9, 2004 12:44 PMMaybe it was the evil eye that made him do it. Maybe it's just the first step in a bigger plan.
Posted by: Gopi at May 9, 2004 03:57 PMI'm so terrified of my kitten doing that...he's got this obsession with my eyeballs, where when I'm half asleep, I'll open my eyes and he's stealthily reaching out a paw towards an eye, with this intent look on his face.
Then I have horrible nightmares about punctured eyeballs and all that.
Hope yours isn't as bad as my nightmares!
Posted by: Anne at May 9, 2004 04:20 PMSee, I told you to let me take him home with me.
Posted by: emma at May 9, 2004 04:52 PMOne time, in my teenage years, I picked up a stray cat who happened into our yard. At first he was nice and calm. For no known reason (cats rarely have a reason), he suddenly freaked out and not only clawed the hell outta my face, but also got some claws stuck inside my nostril. That was awful. And traumatic. I no longer attempt to hold stray cats, though. Your incident with the eyeball sounds much worse. Oh, another anecdote this reminds me of: my mother once scratched her cornea with her own thumbnail. Don't ask me how ... but she had to wear a patch after that one. Get well wishes to you! A patch would be kinda cool if you can pull it off, pirate-style.
Posted by: ellephantom at May 9, 2004 06:11 PMDid he say "Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk" after he did it?
I used to have a cat who would attack my legs when I was under the covers. This was not the playful "pounce the yarn" kind of attack. She was like a Terrier down a rat hole. Only the blanket stood between me and a serious puncture wound.
Love your sight, have you linked.
Posted by: Sheryl at May 9, 2004 10:01 PMK2 probably reads your blog. hey, K2, i think you're cool. don't poke out my eye. i got a guy you can poke, though...
Posted by: k at May 9, 2004 11:37 PMOdd how life is. This weekend I watched my brothers four cats (with all disasters and hi-jix attached) and also one of my best friends from work was sitting at home with her cat, who has cancer. Spent many hours on the phone with her weeping. I believe as I write this she is bringing her fuzzy friend to the vet to be put to sleep. Enjoy their attention, no matter how insane it is, I say.
Why is "Fish" loading so slowing? Anyone else experiencing a lag on this one site?
Posted by: Jonathan at May 10, 2004 09:13 AMMaddie has yet to poke me in the eye, but she did attempt to lick my lips at 5 am to wake me up this morning. Needless to say, this did not help me get out of bed to play with her.
