Don't forget we're hittin' it. What, I don't know, but we are. And hard. We’re going out with a vengeance.
***
After the week I’d had, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to hit anything other than my bed and a bottle of wine. But when Friday evening rolled around, I put on some goin-out shoes and hailed a cab to meet Stephanie in the West Village where she was TGIFing with coworkers. A few hours later, I was double fisting a vodka tonic and Veuve Clicquot, surrounded by male models and E! Reality TV stars… hitting it hard. And it hit back, believe me. But it was worth it. If for nothing more than to sip champagne and giggle every time a model walked by looking confused and beautiful, “Betcha he can’t turn left.”

You remind of when my brother was a model in Paris. I'd drop in every now and then and the conversations were... breathtaking?
The best were the parties with female model agencies like Elite, where the poor women started the evening in a state of addled wits I usually only reach around 6am, if I make it that far. They were eerily pretty (tho not as beautiful as their own photographs on the covers of Vogue or Elle), very tall, and seemed to move slowly, like a kelp-bed swaying in the riptide. Our girlfriends would look like frisky otters jumping around and dancing, and got a big morale boost out of those parties.
It's a hard life, being a model ;)

Looks like fun and you look fabulous Heather!!!
Posted by: Island Girl at February 14, 2005 06:12 AMHave to agree that Heather is looking pretty hot there, although I'm way too old to be making comments about such things and it is a typical male comment especially after reading this site for many months and never commenting!
As to the comment on models not looking as good in real life as opposed to on the covers of magazines, well it's a simple fact that someone can be absolutely stunning in the flesh but somehow that doesn't translate onto film, the same with some photogenically stunning people they actually don't stand out in a crowd as stunning, that's of course taking the shallow looks angle over stunning personality which is what really counts beyond the world of media.
I have to say that way waaaay back when working for prominent photographic studios the female models were always very sweet and helpful whereas the male models tended to be very prissy, self obsessed and unhelpful.
Right that's my comment for another ten months or so!
Espo looks fun!
Posted by: A Fan at February 14, 2005 10:31 AMIs that a tag you're wearing, or are you just showing some serious bling?
Posted by: Gopi at February 14, 2005 11:25 AMWhat ARE you talking about? There were no tags. And no bling.
Posted by: Fish at February 14, 2005 11:27 AMYou have some attractive friends (Kim, Jen H., Stephanie).
Did you notice how the hand stamp makes everyone look like they have some kind of disease or blemish on their hand? (in the photos, anyway)
Posted by: Michael R at February 14, 2005 03:17 PMWhat is that giant gold chain around your neck?
Posted by: Gopi at February 14, 2005 03:31 PMIt was my great grandmother's. Back off :P
Posted by: Fish at February 14, 2005 03:40 PMFish,
Tell my friend Kim that Plantation says hello. My Greek friend doesn't seem to remember to tell her.
