Oh, Interweb, I’m having a bit of a focus problem. Like for instance, right now I’m watching a pair of hawks nest on a utility pole across the highway, and I cannot tell you how much more interesting than work this feathery home makeover show is. Oh, wait, maybe I can. The word infinitely comes to mind. It’s not that I don’t like my work, because I do. I just happen to like hawks better at the moment. And earlier this morning, at exactly the hour I should have been strolling into the office, I liked the cool side of the pillow and blowing raspberries on the Boy’s forehead better. You know what this is, don’t you? Spring fever in February.
I’ve stopped watching the hawks now, and instead am focused on the breadth and width of me in my office chair. People, I’m pretty sure love is making me fat. My running mate Bob hasn’t seen my sleepy, creased face in about three months because, thanks to His Nerdiness, I get into bed later at night and stay in it longer in the morning (see: raspberries), and none of that lends itself to 5:30AM runs. Which in turn does not lend itself to me fitting into about six of my eight pairs of jeans (Don’t scold me. Most of those jeans were purchased sometime in 2004 or 2005. I’m not spendthrify, I just take good care of my stuff).
Let’s play a game. See how we’ve switched topics again? I’ve got the attention span of a fruit fly and I’ve decided not to fight it. So, yes, game. If you leave a comment today, will you please tell me what city you live in? I’ve been thinking about this for a few days now (on and off, of course. see: fruit fly) and I’m really very curious about where you all are. Me, I’m here. In Dallas. Where it’s 60-something degrees and sunny and the sky is blue and the birds of prey are homebuilding for their little prey-lets and where I had better buckle down and get some work done. What about you?
Fat is more comfortable to hug. (Enjoying the same weather in Houston.)
I usually don’t comment (I’m more of a lurker…), but I know exactly how you feel: I can’t get things done either, at least not in their normal, organized way.
And here in The Hague (The Netherlands) the sun hasn’t even been out in days.
I hear you on the spring fever. I’d love to be home about now playing in the yard with my son… but then there’s this thing called a job. And for some reason they insist that I keep coming in… SOmething about accountants and tax season. Whatever, I’m reading THis Fish.
I’m in Parkersburg, WV. A small town but big for WV standards.
I’m here in St. Louis, MO, looking for any reason not to stay focused at work. The past two days have been beautiful, sunny and in the 60′s. Tonight, the forecast calls for snow.
I too am usually just a lurker and getting Spring fever. I live in Mattoon, IL (small town) and in the middle of February it’s very odd for us to have 60 degree weather. Of course, we have had since last Saturday and now all I seem to want to do is day dream about being on vacation. Damn this job! lol
today my spring fever is replaced by an actual flu-type fever, so I’m avoiding work and watching a rerun of the Westminster Dog Show in Providence RI
I’m in St. Louis too…
I am here in Boston..
Spring fever here in Warsaw, NY (try finding that on a map!) – a balmy 60 degrees in the middle of winter means shorts and t-shirts today! Of course lake effect snow and 20s tomorrow but hey that’s tomorrow!
Chiming in from just steps across the Los Angeles county line and a few miles north of Malibu in a little place called Westlake Village, where there is frost. On the roof. And the car.
It’s so adorable — LA’s annual attempt at “winter.” It’ll keep trying for another couple of days, and then it’ll shrug its shoulders and be all, “Meh, whatevs.” And then? So over it. Back to 80 degrees and beautiful.
Love your blog, Fish.
Pamela
I am here in Calgary, Alberta freezing in -10 degrees C. Apparently, some know-it-all groundhog decided that 6 more weeks of winter were in order. I may have to find him and give him a stern talking-to.
I’m in Royal Oak, MI……..where it looked impossible that the earth would ever thaw out again until this week! And as such, I’ve done more brainstorming about other US locations I’d entertain moving to than I have since college! I had kind of resolved to the trade off of fantastic friends instead of fantastic weather — all bets are off now.
I’m sitting at work experiencing similar concentration issues out in Washington, DC where it is a beautiful 68 degrees. How is anyone supposed to get anything done with February temperatures like that?
I am enjoying spring-like weather in Connecticut today. Okay, spring-like is a stretch. But its above 30 degrees, so I say break out the bikinis and pina coladas!
http://www.marriageconfessions.wordpress.com
Spring is so far away that it isn’t even worth thinking about up here. But the good news is the sun is starting to come up befoer 9:30 am. Checking in from Anchorage, Alaska! (And not a Palin fan, for the record).
I’m in Atlanta… also having a hard time thinking about anything other than crawling back in bed with the boy.
You have just described this entire week for me (and maybe the last two as well). Flighty. Easily distracted. Worrying about not fitting into jeans. Unfortunately, however, stress is not as good a reason as love, but that’s just the way it is.
(Metro-Detroit, gray, rainy, and about 50 degrees).
Chelsea, MI here…..just finished my lunch portion of the Special K diet. My jeans don’t fit either
Auckland, New Zealand. And it’s hot!!! I’ve just woken up (6.30am) and it’s already a very humid and muggy 23 degrees (don’t know what that is converted) so the nights are uncomfortable and sweaty and not very conducive to sleep. It means I like going to work – air conditioning……sweet.
I, too, am working in Dallas (with eyes glazed over)! I’ve been reading This Fish, though, since the days of the Relationship Resolutions when I lived in Midland.
Anchorage, AK… its 9am, barely light, and a very balmy 8 degrees. The mountain range is BEAUTIFUL out my bosses window though…
Hi, I’m a long time lurker or rare commenter enjoying some pretty sweet weather here today in Houston.
I’m sitting at my desk, in Baltimore, MD, about to go outside and enjoy a stroll in our also beautiful weather, to go get some chocolate. So it looks like I’ll be spreading further in my chair, too
Portland, OR. Yesterday it snowed. For the 17 billionth time this winter. Today? sunny & 40 degrees.
I am ready for spring.
Hey,
I live in Vancouver, BC at the moment but have been reading your blog for sometime now, at home in New Plymouth, New Zealand and also when I lived in Kagoshima, Japan. Thanks for entertaining me across the globe
Jersey City, NJ…hanging out at home w/ my newborn. It’s supposed to hit a high of a balmy 50 degrees today. I wouldn’t know the difference…we don’t leave the house during the week.
Philly, PA, where’s ALSO 60 degrees and my windows are all wide open to let in the breeze. Supposed to snow this weekend. =(
Ann Arbor, Michigan; where mother nature is teasing us, with 50+weather, to only let us down tomorrow with snow and 20′s. Better then the -30wind chill’s we had going on for awhile.
I rotate between Redlands, CA and Boise, ID–one is home and the other school. As for lack of focus, welcome to my life. Unfortunately, I don’t really have the luxury of staring out the window because of killer exams tomorrow. Did I mention, I was supposed to be at a coffee shop 2.5 hours ago to start studying? Oops, my bad!
I’m here in Boca Raton, FL (with no window to look out to distract me.) I’m daydreaming about a bike ride to the beach.
The weather here is perfect – 75, breezy & sunny.
Annapolis, MD
In Atlanta, also enjoying the attention span of a fruit fly with the lovely weather we’ve had the last few days here. I only wish I had a window at work where I could look out to watch hawks building a nest.
No spring here in Bend, Ore. Got fresh snow yesterday, instead (which is tres faboo for the skiers).
But very much feeling you on the new boy making me fat. Not just because I can’t get up to work out, but also because he makes DELICIOUS spicy wings. Boo.
After several days of sub-zero weather and a week after the last snowstorm, temperatures here in Boston allegedly will hit the above 50 mark. This girl is so very excited! Glad to hear the weather in Dallas is also spring-ish! And about new love adding unwelcome pound-age: Get him to work out with you! I’ve gotten my Boy to start going to the gym with me in the morning. Oh the Competitive Cycling Challenges that go on…
What better to do when you’re caught up (or not caught up) on work than to read Fish’s blog?!?! Love the updates on the boy, but they’re so elusive! What gives?!?
Minneapolis, MN… has been raining all week – buh-bye icy tundra!
Berlin. Grey and rainy or snowy, depending on the minute. Varying between -3 and +2 C. Depressing as heck and looking forward to next month in Orlando.
Champaign, IL (for grad school)
And love definitely made me gain weight haha. Am now working out with the boy 2x a week, which hopefully will help.
Here in Orlando, Fl weather is too hot for my liking. At 81 degrees, I’m daydreaming of slightly cooler weather and wear my sweather in the office just to pretend i’m further north…lol
Being distracted by the severe storms and tornadoes rolling through in Nashville, TN.
Love your blog!
Being distracted by the severe storms and tornadoes rolling through in Nashville, TN.
Love your blog!
I live in Atlanta, I go to school @ Notre Dame, and I am currently in Athens, Greece for the semester. Hurray, multiple homes!
I’m in Manhattan, wishing I could take the rest of the day to cavort around Central Park, or walk along the water.
Detroit. (Insert crime statistic and auto industry jokes here.)
I’m right there with you – it’s so much more fun to spend time with my boyfriend than head to the gym! I’m in Seattle, WA.
It is lovely today in the nation’s capital. As for the extra love weight, after two breakups in the past year and half, I’ve learned that I’m either single and skinny or doing it and doughy.
I am in SUNNY NEBRASKA! crazy spring fever here in Feb. too! but I guess we are looking at some snow again by the end of the week and it rained all day monday…super strange. I too love my jobs but am having a hard time doing it lately! Hang in there fish
I’ve been reading for a few years, but this is the first time I’ve commented – I’m writing from Philadelphia, PA. The weather is deceivingly nice today, but not for long… it’s still winter in PA.
I’m reading from Aberdeen Scotland. It’s cold, damp and snowy here! I would love to be somewhere where there is sun, hawks nesting and blue skies.
Sigh. You k now where I live. You were my favorite part of your whole side of the street too. Now I can just love Chicky’s.
I’m usually just a lurker, but I too have a short attention span this morning and it’s always fun to find our where people are from! I’m in Vancouver, BC, but I’m entertained to see other commenters from St. Louis, as I started reading your blog at work there, before I moved to BC. FYI – love does make you fat(er), there have been studies. But who cares! Love is good, and spring is nearly here! Or at least I’d like to think so. Cheers!
I’m kicking it in Lincoln, NE. Having just moved here recently from Colorado – I’d have to say I prefer the snowy mountains than this midwest winter… Although I shouldn’t be complaining… it’s sunny and a reasonable 45degrees today. I’d much prefer taking the dog for a walk than sitting here at work….
Monday and Tuesday, we had a storm. There was snow and rainy slush that turned into treacherous ice. Today, the sun is shining and there is not a hint of that snow and ice. That’s what it’s like here in the Black Hills of South Dakota…we get every season in a 48 hour period of time.

hello from Lausanne Switzerland
Decatur, TN
Milwaukee, where it’s unseasonably warm (45 degrees) and rainy.
North Kingstown, RI Glad to see another reader from the biggest little state. I too have spring fever, 61 degrees here and the flirting is rampant! What will we do in April?
Hi Fish – Reading you here in San Diego – spring fevering also : }
Palatine, IL. 45 degrees and foggy. 60s yesterday. 30s tomorrow.
Just got back from a fabulous walk around the block in Washington, DC. I wish it would stay this warm till late April! My boy has been out of the picture for almost two months and slowly I am getting back into the smaller clothes in my closet-Woohoo!
I’m in Kihei, HI.
Love made me fat too.
downtown chicago! and i must say we got spoiled this weekend with 60 degree weather. and now im majorly suffering from spring fever. which sucks bc it doesnt even get warm till may in chicago ahh!
I’m in Houston, Texas – its gorgeous here too!
And re: the weight gain -my own sweetie and I have been together for roughly 4 years – and i’ve only JUST started to lose the weight i gained in the first year of us being together. through the rougly 10-15 pounds i’ve gained (and halfwayish lost), he’s never said anything but every day, totally truthfully – ‘baby, you look good. let’s cuddle’.
Friends of mine are going out tonight. I was sick for a month, which of course means tons of comfort food, which has translated into none of my clothes fitting.
I’m sorry, I take that back. My fat jeans fit.. and a little too well at that.
I’m in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada
I’m in lovely Harlem USA, and I’d much rather be in Riverside Park right now than pretending to do school work at home, since it’s actually above 60 degrees today. Yahoo.
Love made me fat too. Gained 10 pounds a month after the wedding. Boo on that. I now only fit into 1 pair of jeans, and those were purchased recently. Had to buy new work pants. Right now I’m choosing to blame working full-time and going to school on the side for my failure to work out.
Twin Cities, Minnesota, is where I hail from.
I love Tatiana’s comment – single and skinny or doing it and doughy.
I’m currently doughy (and doing it) in Regina SK Canada.
San Antonio. I lived in NYC and went to hear some bands with that friend of yours from the MTV news website. He gave me the article you wrote for the Times as home reading. I did not speak to him after that, but have been reading you ever since.
London… Dublin… Soon to be Dar es Salaam (Tanz). You do keep some of us distracted where ever we go.
San Diego as well, where the weather can’t decide if it wants to rain or be sunny.
I’m in LA…where it is sunny and about 50. I’m slacking today too…
Washington DC
In Omaha, and oh, so with you on pretty much all of that! I’ve definitely got spring fever AND the attention span of a fruit fly…geez. This weekend was a fabulous 61 degrees…and of course we are now back down to 40 with a supposed low of 29 today. Oh, how I love the Midwest.
It’s 63 in Washington D.C., and I’m taking my late-lunch blog break.
tallahassee, fl. and i love how you refer to The Boyfriend as The Dork Lord. I need to think of a good nickname for mine!
I started reading your blog recently, linked to it from La Coquette — v. fun! I’m in Dallas as well. I am currently “listening to a training webcase” (i.e., ignoring the webcast & reading blogs .
At my desk in St Joseph, MI 50′s right now, back to 30′s in a couple more days
I am in Atlanta, and also enjoying nice weather today. I too have found it hard to concentrate at work. i think its spring fever in february too!
Raining here in San Luis Obispo, CA – the Central Coast. But we need it, so it’s okay!
I left the ‘I live in Atl’ comment. I forgot to put my contact info. See? I have a short attention span!!!
Hi, i’m a reader from france living in berlin, germany. right now it’s very cold and snowing…
Sydney, Australia
We’ve just had a heat wave, 40 C (100+ F) for days in a row, end with three days of rain and 20 C (70 F). Hooray climate change, eh.
im in littleon, co
Here in Carlsbad, CA. Finally sunny again, though too chilly for me.
And I too put on some pounds after finding love. But he says he doesn’t care and I believe him. Admittedly, once I stopped eating as much as he did, the fat started to go away little by little…
On the magnificent mile in downtown Chicago. Started reading your blog back in 2004, when I lived in Ann Arbor, MI. First comment ever.
Love your blog
I’m in Southern California, which is typically beautiful this time of year, but a bit rainy. We’ll survive if the morons stay off the road!
Spring Fever is alive and well here in Austin. We are all blaming on the beautiful 70-degree weather.
Paris. (If pressed I might say suburbs of. But if no one’s fact-checking I’m sticking with my original answer). Today it was chilly and sunny, for once.
Greetings from WB Studios in lovely Burbank, CA!
The weather is crisp and very cool today with a chance of additional rain fall later this week and over the weekend, which can only mean: Snow in the mountains and (eventually) clear sunny skies at the beach! Highs in the 60′s/70′s.
Spring Fever: since the fall of 2004
Fish, if ya ever in Burbank, I’d be honored to give a the 10 cent tour of the WB Studios. You just let me know.
I’m reading you from work (during my lunch break of course) in Washington, DC (where it is approx. 68 degrees) wishing I was reading you from home (Fredericksburg, VA, where it is approx. 75 degrees) instead. Who knew what a difference 40 miles could make in the weather.
I’m in Calgary, Canada where it’s currently -6 degrees Celsius (that’s about 21 Fahrenheit). Trust me, that actually feels Spring-like for us!
I am here in warm (at the moment) but not so sunny, Barnesville, PA.
I live in gorgeous Fayetteville, AR. And I, too, have suffering major Spring fever. I. Cannot. Wait.
It’s a balmy 71 degrees in Arlington, VA today!
And holy crap, you’ve got readers from all over. Yay, you!
Greetings from Chicago. Rainy and grey with more snow and cold weather rolling in tonight. Yesterday was gorgeous though. Mother nature is such a tease…
I am currently enjoying warmer weather and torrential rain in Evanston (just north of Chicago)
In Carrollton, TX using “Being a good sister/friend” as an excuse to do EVERYTHING BUT WORK.
Also, My Google Reader and Freecycle emails won’t read themselves.
Usually a lurker, but since you asked so nicely and I, too, cannot pay attention to anything I’m supposed to, I figured I could tell you that I read you in Miami, Florida. And you’re wonderful.
I’m in Paris, where I don’t have any more of an attention span than you do. And where it won’t stay sunny or blue-sky-ed for more than six hours at a time. I love it here (you know, cause it’s France) but I’m so, soo over the winter Paris Greys.
I do know how you hate unsolicited advice, but how ’bout exercising with the boy? I just started, and it makes it go by much faster.
Birmingham, AL
It’s not gorgeous but still a bit warminsh here in Chicago. Rain and colder temps after a stunning, marvelous, freak 60° day yesterday. Sigh.
Ah…I wouldn’t mind a few extra pounds right about now if I could be in love.
I’m in Denver, CO…where I drove into work with a thin blanket of snow on the grass and as I went to lunch, it had pretty much all melted.
Washington, DC!!
I’m in Boston, where it also feels like spring today (mid-50s). As you know, spring probably won’t come to good old Beantown until late April.
Oklahoma City, OK. Love you blog! Your site lead me to Ari and Sarah Brown and I love their blogs as well. Thank you!
I’m here in Austin, TX, and am wondering where winter went..you know, for the 2 days that it was actually here.
Toronto, ON. Canada; where it is currently 7 degrees Celsius and raining, something that is rather unusual for this time of year.
Am looking forward to snapdragons, butterflies, and running around barefoot, oh, sometime in the next four months or so.
Norman, OK
Another LONG time lurker! I live in Hartford, CT (the insurance capitol of the world but I’m lucky enough to work in a museum!). Love your blog!
I’m reading from here in College Station, TX and I must say, being with a new boy in this warm weather has given me a touch of Spring fever too!
I know exactly what you mean…I’m supposed to working on my dissertation so I can graduate this year, however, spontaneous naps and the clearance racks at Target get all of my attention…
I usually don’t comment, but Fish, I think you’re my mental twin!! And your nephew is the CUTEST! ttfn…from Cary, NC
Fargo, ND!!
New York, NY!
I started fluffing up myself once I got my own Dork Lord. My friend at work calls it “Contented Cow Syndrome” >.>
Sunny 60s here in Norman, OK!
I’ve been reading your blog from scenic Waltham, MA for quite some time now. Today it’s a balmy 50 degrees which is finally melting some of the dirty gray piles of snow. I have family just outside Dallas (in Addison) and I’ve often thought of relocating. Not only is it warmer, but the people are so much nicer than the majority of those who live in Boston.
I’m in Denver, where it’s snow/sunshine/snow/sunshine, all within 24 hours!
Washington, DC but I used to read you while in Des Moines, IA. Adore the blog, Fish!
Chicago, rainy. Also been skipping gym due to boy (and work since I usually go at lunch time), but I think what’s keeping me from gaining weight (and actually losing more) has been sex. Crazy. But sure is a fun way to work out. Love your blog.
I’m here in South Jersey, just outside Philly. It’s sunny and 65. I broke out the flip-flops for the first time today.
And there’s a squirrel just outside my sliding glass back door, keeping me highly amused.
dickinson, nd via phoenix, az. quite a change in weather, let me tell ya! snow, snow, and more snow. and can’t forget the ice. oy vey. =)
Sunny highs of 70′s today in Frederick, MD
Congested sinuses in New Paltz, NY.
I met my Husband 2.0 shortly after my divorce from the beta version. He wined and dined and raspberried me, and I immediately gained 15 lbs., though in all fairness, I had lost a ton of weight due to my divorce anxiety diet of cigarettes and diet soda. So yeah, love makes you fat. Cigs & diet soda make you thin. You choose.
Are you paying attention? Fish…?
Living in the beautiful weather of Las Cruces, NM.
Philadelphia here. Beautiful day today, unusually warm, 68 degrees and sunny. The kind of day that makes me wish I still worked in Center City to enjoy lunch in the park, and the various eye candy that goes with such a lunch.
Sausalito, CA – just outside of San Francisco! Long time fan here!
I am making it a mission in my current (new!) relationship to get in the best shape of my life. I know I will have lazy, uncaring days that I want to relax in bed with my man, but for my own sake and insecurities I need to get fit with the quickness. Almost 6 weeks down on my plan and counting… and for the record – I have never been happier!
I am in Orlando, FL. Sunny and 82 degrees as I type.
Snowing in South Dakota
san antonio! not too far from you… and i hear you about work. and distractions. i live for the 30 seconds when no one is by my desk and i can sneak in some internet time!
We are all a guilty of gaining a little Love Pudge from time to time. Don’t worry about it!
I would usually be jealous of your weather in Dallas, but today, in Manhattan, it is 60 too!
I’m in Santa Fe, NM.
Snow yesterday, bright and blue today, 35 degrees.
No hawk home building, though the cats are grooming one another in the window, if that counts.
I too am slacking at working – from (today) beautiful Vancouver, BC. Yesterday much of the Lower Mainland was crippled by icy roads and flurries (we really don’t do snow very well, at least in BC). Today it is sunny and not so balmy 8 degrees, which is 48 Fahrenheit for those south of the border.
I would take a few extra pounds if it meant there was a boy in bed with me…
I’m currently in Toronto, Ontario, but started reading your blog when I lived in a tiny town on the island of Shikoku, Japan.
In Atlanta – was delightful in the 70′s, currently clouding up and getting windy.
Just work off those pounds with the Boy while making raspberries in bed!! Burns lots of calories….
I like to get my lurk on from Philadelphia, PA (home) and Wilmington, DE (work)
I have been reading your stuff from Guelph, Ontario; Ottawa, Ontario and now Edmonton, Alberta. Snow, snow and more snow.
Columbus, OH – only 8 pairs of jeans? That’s not many at all, after all, that’s only 1 weeks worth I have way more jeans, pants, and shirts. After all, with all the body changes, things that looked good together last week may not look the same this week – I need options people! But I’m learning to buy less quantity and more quality
I’m in Boise, ID where it’s 37 degrees and sunny after an overnight snow storm.
Salem, OR
I lurk and I enjoy your blog! My husband is also a fan.
Delurking to tell you I live just south of Boston!
I am in Warrenton, VA…it’s gorgeous here today! The wind has a light breeze to it and the sun is shining – LOVE IT! My fiance and I just bought this house two weeks ago and I’m itching to see how I am at gardening…played for about 30 mins today but the work computer was calling and ringing…but think I’m going to dip out before the sun goes down to play some more…enjoy the day Fish!
**sigh**
In Dallas, too. And loving the weather (currently 65 degrees at my office) but wishing I were back at home with Doc (the nickname of The Boy ’round these parts).
Of course, I am stuck at a desk, being blinded by the sun reflecting off of someone’s car parked outside my window. I’m off to remedy that situation, then enjoy the blue skies again!
As for weight gain – I guarantee that I have you beat. Since the relationship started (June 2008) I have gained over twenty-five pounds. It’s coming off now…but I only have myself to blame. If the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach….then I have him wrapped around my little finger. I never paid much attention before, but man, I’m a good cook!
Its rainy and cold in London – after last week’s worst snowfall in 18 years, we now have floods. Any excuse to get out of going to work I say!
Cleveland, Ohio.
ewwwwww!
Albuquerque, New Mexico, here! Yesterday is was snowing and the high was in the upper 20s. Today it’s in the 60s. Silly weather.
Um, I got married a little over a year ago and have gained 25 lbs. I’m considering calling the dr. ha Alton, IL here.
I’m chiming in from Boston, where it was lovely today!
Am distracted up in Seattle! And at least you get to look outside during the day. My area has no windows. And that’s about as…fun…as it sounds.
Gainesville,FL
Nice and warm!
Reading you in Tulsa, Oklahoma, today. It was warm enough for me to jog in the sunshine over my lunch break, but we had crazy storms last night.
Chicago…. I am more than a little jealous of your weather situation. It’s raining here and getting colder by the minute
I’m in Virginia Beach, VA, currently working 40 hours a week and not getting paid for it. Silly grad school final internships.
I’m in Scranton, Pa. 62 today and sunny. Ahhhhh spring fever!! =) But back to snowy and 32 tomorrow. =(
I love reading your blog & day dreaming while at work. I’m here in Colorado where yesterday it snowed & today it’s sunny and 50 degrees. All the snow has already melted.
Bozeman,MT here. It’s 32 and the storm clouds are rolling in. Again. I’m so ready for spring!
Hey, stalker (ahem, lurker) number #357 here. I’m Canadian, and I live sometimes in Uganda, sometimes on Vancouver Island and sometimes in Seattle.
In short, a professional nomad who is also having serious focus issues.
Hence: Me, reading your blog at 2:30 pm on a Wednesday afternoon when I really should be getting some shit done.
This is far more fun.

Hello! White Plains, NY checking in.
Couple hours south of you in Austin, enjoying the same beautiful weather. I’m at the “ready to invest in a hammock” time of the year.
I’m in Peachtree City, Georgia getting ready for some stormy weather tonight!
I live in Monroe, GA – it’s in between Atlanta and Athens and if you blink, you might miss it on Highway 78, the infamous “Atlanta Highway” sung by the B52s.
I’m loving this weather – if it would only stay sunny and 75 for the rest of my life instead of 100 and HOT in May, June, July, and August (let’s not forget Sept, Oct, and usually Nov. as well)
Seattle – it is actually sunshiney here today!
I’m in your old stomping grounds, NYC. It was actually 60 degrees and sunny here today, too (not that I got to enjoy it). What happened to your super-buff exercise tape regime? Don’t care to sweat to the oldies in front of the dork lord?
Another Washingtonian checking in…I busted out the flip flops this afternoon here in DC.
Ahhh… Spring Fever… Here in San Francisco it time for our Pitchers and Catchers to report ..
Its a sunny, but windy day in Omaha, Nebraska. Although we are supposed to get 6-10 inches of snow on Friday.
I hate to rub it in, but I just got home from the gym.
Sunny and warm in Gainesville, Fl. After weeks of unusually cold (for here) temps, it was 80 and fabulous today. Big fan of the Fish!
Fellow fruit fly here in Austin, TX. Nice post today. I started reading it at work but finished it at home just now (where I am still working).
Happy always makes me gain weight. My husband wasn’t ready for that! (Boston, MA where it was a balmy 60 degrees today!_
Eugene, Ore., where it is sunny and cold. A nice break from the usual rain.
Atlanta!!! Although, in my head, constant daydreams that I live in Oh So Many other, much more exotic and fascinating places… Your blog rocks, btw!
Atlanta, GA – on a tornado watch tonight.
As usual, the brain fog is rolling into San Francisco, too.
I’ve been reading for a few years now…started when I lived in WA, and now I’m reading from sunny FL!
I totally agree with the attention span of a fruit fly….maybe there’s something in the air…..
Groveland, MA. Northeast of Boston, about 10 miles from the NH border.
I’m in Gainesville, FL for grad school. It’s sunny and beautiful! I’ve been enjoying your blog for awhile now.
Yeah, love will do that to you. And raspberries are way more fun than running. And much easier on your knees.
I live in LA where it’s finally sunny after raining for 4 straight days. But I can’t complain because it only rains about 355 days out of the year here.
Here in Bakersfield, CA where the sun is shining and this city is clean for once after the rain. Listening to dixie chicks’ takin the long way while finishing up at work. i know, the dixie chicks. whatever it’s been that kind of day.
Fairbanks, AK Here is something to help your distractions
http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=665847
I’m in Washington, D.C., where the temperature reached 70 today, so I’m with you on the spring fever. To make up for the injustice of an economics exam at 8:50 this morning, I skipped my afternoon class in favor of running some errands and skipping around in the sun. Unfortunately, winter is to return just in time for Valentine’s Day here…
Buckled down in Dayton, OH with winds of up to 70 mph tonight… maybe I’ll be blown over to the East Coast by morning!
Holy comments Batman!
I’m in Toronto, Canadia now. But I have also read your blog from Vancouver and Hong Kong.
Raspberries sound lovely. And everyone knows that love makes you fat. So screw the runs and start pretending you’re a cowgirl. May I suggest in reverse?
Alpharetta, Ga. 70′s here today!
Hi fish – just got home (in Lighthouse Point, Florida) from riding my wonderful horse (who lives in Boca Raton, Florida). Love your blog, read it several times a week, and go through withdrawls if you don’t post every few days! Thank you for your wonderful sense of humor!
Reading this here in nyc, though I’ve been reading since living in Boston. Can’t help what the lift in temperature does or the happiness of not lugging around my huge wool coat. But distraction seems to come easier when the weather is nice.
Brockton, MA, just south of Boston. Where we also had 60 degree weather today. Spring fever is everywhere!
Lexington, KY…60 degrees but raining and very windy
I’m in Muncie, Indiana. Grad school. It’s as fun as it sounds. Huge case of spring fever.
Norman, OK :0)
Posting from Baltimore, MD, enjoying similar (unseasonable) weather- it was 70 today, but it will be snowing by the weekend- weather is such a tease.
Also, very very distractable these days. Must be the beginnings of spring.
I’m in San Antonio. While the weather today was beautiful, I think I was happier sitting on the porch when the rain rolled through last night
I’m here in beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado, where Mother Nature is seriously confused about just what season it is. I leave home to go to school and it’s like 2 degrees. By lunch recess, my fifth grade boys are out playing football in t-shirts.
I really wish she’d decide already. That being said, it is wonderful to ski when it’s 60!
Denver, CO.
Been married a year and gained 20 pounds. Argh!
I’m in Aliso Viejo, CA. It was sunny today in the low 60′s with lots of rain coming tomorrow. Not sunny California now but once spring hits, ahhhh.
It’s raining/snowing in Winnipeg MB. A heatwave for us.
Been reading your blog a while, but I think this is my first time to comment…couldn’t resist, as there seems to be no one from my corner of the world here.
I’m from Manila, Philippines, but currently living in Southern China. The temp here’s a nice 24C (75F), and I really do hope it is spring already!
Orlando, Fla. 80 and beautiful today. And I also suffer from relationship fat. Sadly, now that I’m married I can’t make it go away no matter what I do.
Hi, I’m Alicia, nice to meet you. I’m from Northwest Iowa, where we were excited to hit a high of 35 degrees today. It was -25 with windchill last week, so anything is better than that. Everytime I go to move something majorly life changing happens that keeps me here. Wishing for palm trees and sunshine.
I was hoping if I thought on it really hard, the extra growth on me would just melt away (running? Running is for MOTIVATED people). And besides, I didn’t just eat 2 very scrumptious Cadbury eggs.
Surrey, BC
Greenville, NC, where it has been a lovely 74 the past couple days…
Sigh. Makes it hard to focus on anything productive…only long daydreams about upcoming summer days on the beach.
It’s warm and raining here in Brockville, Ontario! (near Ottawa)
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia! Where the weather is a constant 33 degrees Celsius year round
I’ve decided I have the attention span of a goldfish and a memory like a seive.
Brisbane, Australia. Its hot and humid.
Hey Fish,
Checking in from Largo, FL (west of Tampa). It was 78 and sunny today. I saw a hawk kill a dove a few weeks ago while the dove was in flight. Nature is pretty interesting viewing sometimes. Can’t believe winter is essentially done down here. I only got to wear a sweatshirt about 6 times. Soon we’ll be bitching about the heat
Take care
Los Angeles, CA (where people wear scarves when its below 70)
Cincinnati. OH .
And I think as I type my FB profile says something like, “Waiting for February to be over”. It’s just harder to work/play/unvegetate in February.
Keep doing what you do, I’ve loved your writing for um, what… three or four years now? Wow.
So, I hail from Ohio but down in Aggieland finishing a Master’s degree. I am making up for your fat-pants stint. Been braving runs @ 6 am…let’s face it: I’d rather be with the boy & chubby if I were you….
Texas transplant into Denver, CO!
St Louis, MO
I told a friend one time that I had the attention span of a fruit fly and she disagreed with me, saying that when they are flying around your face annoying you, they actually have a pretty intense attention span. We concluded that a butterfly was a better insect to compare to… flitter here flutter there… can you imagine a butterfly cam? dizzyness!
I’m in Moscow Idaho!
Mmmmm I love raspberries! I’m in Dallas, too!
I’m in New Orleans, the Big Easy!
The weather has been getting nicer and I’m very happy about this.
How does the forehead raspberry work? I don’t get it!
well I am not much of a commenter but I thought you might enjoy knowing you have a reader way up in Whitehorse Yukon (Canada) where we are currently thrilled to be enjoying a balmy -25 (celsius), which is a fantastic relef after weeks of -40 -45.
I’ve got the spring fever too. I blame it on the weather we’ve been having lately. The past two days have been flirting with 70 degrees but today we had rain, snow, more rain, then sun and wind, here in Independence, MO.
Stumbled upon your blog while living in Geelong, Australia in 2006. Now I read from Topeka, KS.
Tampa, FL
Idyllwild, CA – small mountain town above Palm Springs and we have about 3+ feet of snow right now.
Montreal, Quebec… It’s cold here and there’s lots of snow and French folks. Some like it; some don’t.
Anchorage, Alaska, where it’s chilly and snowing (what did you expect?).
Hello from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
currently reading your blog in san diego, ca…getting ready to move in a week to corvallis, oregon where i will also be reading your blog.
Tokyo, where I’m also having a focus problem…
Vienna, Austria. It’s freezing and I’ve to go to the dentist today…
Ponca City, OK
Will Rogers, who was from Oklahoma, said that if you don’t like the weather in Oklahoma, just wait 5 minutes. In the last two weeks we have had an ice storm, tornados, and days warm enough to comfortably wear a tank top and shorts. Its enough to confuse a girl’s wardrobe-ing so badly that in order to prepare for it all, I just add 5 layers in the morning (all strip off-able) and keep a blanket and two forms of jackets (along with an umbrella and an ice scraper) in my car at all times! Sigh.
Manila, Philippines! Hello from the third world.
Reutlingen, Germany!
that is in the south of Germany, close to Stuttgart where alle the Mercedes Benzes and Porsches are coming from. we have snow today and it looks like there will be patches of blue sky. i’m fed up with the cold, but the snow does look nice. i must admit.
Lucky for me my boy is a total fitness FREAK so we hit the gym/go for runs together (whenever possible).
I’m currently reading your blog from the Kingdom of Bahrain, which is next door to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Middle East – yuno, where all the good stuff happens!
We had crazy fog 2 days ago followed by an intense sand storm. So it’s pretty gloomy outside which is GREAT!
I’ve been having the same problem of spring fever in February. I live in Las Vegas, but I’m originally from Maine so it feels like spring to me. I’ve only been in the desert for 7 months and I’m loving the warm, sunny weather!
Here I was thinking I’d be the only person from Auckland, New Zealand, but no, there’s more than one of us. I’m reading this at 10.48pm and it’s 100% humidity and was the hottest day in 100 years. If I could kick my boy out of the bed I would, but it’d be pointless, the small boy would just come in anyways… Nice to de-lurk finally.
Reading from Sisters Beach, Tasmania, AUSTRALIA
Like your second commenter, I’m also in The Hague, in The Netherlands. Sunny one minute, rainy the next and always cold.
Hello from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!
i’m down here near the equator in Singapore. Forever hot & humid. The dry spell is finally over and it’s starting to rain occasionally.
Temp is 34 deg C (highest). Lowest is ard 24-25 deg C and by then most already fish out their sweaters & jackets!
I am in San Diego, CA and as for the raspberries- I always had a hunch I wasn’t the only person to do that!
From sunny Prague, believe it or not….
It´s sunny day. Right now I§m going to have lunch:)
Washington, DC
Hey ho from Clackmannan, Scotland, where it’s snowing again and I’m listening to my baby girl try out her outside voice, inside. Long time reader directed to you from the late Mike Wolf who I worked with when I lived in Atlanta.
Long time lurker from Melbourne, Australia where we are all absolutely thrilled to have some cooler weather.
Copenhagen, cold and grey Denmark. How about that?!
Sandra
Scottsdale, AZ, where a winter storm has made it pretty chilly this week. And by chilly, I mean in the 60s. ;o)
Beautiful Buxton, MAine… Rainey and warm (40 degress) today!
Spring seems to already be here! I live in Jacksonville, FL where the past three days have been in the upper 70′s!
Enjoying 60 mph winds in Annapolis, MD.
Singapore.
WOW, you have a LOT of readers from all over.
I’m in Richmond, VA where it has been 65-75 all week, which I adore because I hate cold weather. It’s a tease though, and will be a hard adjustment when winter returns.
Richmond, VA
Been lurkin’ for a couple of years, first time to post a comment – shout out from Richmond, VA!!! Yesterday was 70′s, today windy but in the 60′s….then back to the 30′s over the weekeend, boo!
P.S. Congrats on Dork – may your raspberries be returned!
Yay! I’m from Miami too! Two Miamians. Although this Miamian is not seeing anyone.
Lynchburg, VA. My office window overlooks the parking lot and a field; a couple months ago I saw 4 huge wild turkeys passing through!
I’m a day late, but wanted to join the spring fever fun. Greenville, SC where it’s supposed to be 70 today. Sunny and blue skies.
NYC…trying to find a way out.
I’m right outside of Memphis Tn, just across the state line. Weathers pretty here too, and yes, I got to work later than normal myself.
until a few months ago, i was in Austin, TX. now i’ve moved to Tulsa, OK to be near my family. we’re expecting our first baby in just two months now! we’re having a girl, so no old man hats…. but the nibbling of thighs will most certainly ensue…
Rainy in Toronto Canada…
Dear god! I hear you on the spring fever. I am going a bit stir crazy these days.
And me, I am in Washington DC
I’m with you in Dallas and am having the same problem. It’s too pretty outside to have to work.
Hi Fish!
I’m in Washington, DC…it was in the 60′s yesterday, great break from winter weather hell!
Spring fever in February – yep, I’ve got it too. I’m in Bartlesville, OK, in the northeast corner of Oklahoma north of Tulsa.
Fun!! I’d be watching the hawks, too.
I’m in North Attleboro, MA (though I do all my blog reading from Millbury, MA).
I understand spring fever around here everyone has cabin fever it just got nice enough to go outside for more than 2 minutes…We finally can go ice fishing…I live in Eden South Dakota right now it is 20 degrees above zero but wind chill makes it feel like 0. enjoy your nice weather…
I am in New York, NY, but from Newton, MA originally (right outside of Boston). So maybe in a few years I’ll be in Dallas too since I seem to be trailing you around the country!
Ballston Spa, NY …. having a fairly warm spell here (high 30s) brrrrr.
Fairbanks, Alaska
Today it is warm 1 above zero (usually in the -25′s)
Spring won’t be here until April but I feel your pain.
Hello from Fayetteville, AR!
I’m in Calgary, Alberta at it is currently -10 Celsius and calling for snow.

Congratulations…isn’t love grand? And just in time for Valentine’s Day too. Do you believe in and/or celebrate V-Day or no?
Your Devoted Fan
Mellissa
Hello! Long time reader, infrequently comment. I currently live in Corpus Christi, TX. It’s going to be 85 degrees and sunny today…I’m hoping to take the dog for a walk on the beach after work. I have lived before in Dallas (LOVE and miss it).
Love def. makes me fat…you’re just so content and nothing feeds contentment like, well, FEEDING it! Also, tortillas make me fat. Didn’t know that until I moved here.
Berkeley, CA. Home of moonbats, cranky liberals, riotous feminists, and closet conservatives. Pick up a fresh supply of righteous indignation on any streetcorner. Please recycle.
I am in London, UK currently writing a customised training manual on how to use SharePoint. I used to read your blog in Mildura, Australia, a small town before moving here to a massive city.
Seattle, WA. 39 degrees on the way to work today, and clear – which is a nice change from the snow earlier this week!
Oh isn’t it nice to have a reason not to get out of bed?!? I’m usually late too due to the fact that my Handsome always ends up pulling me back for snuggles. It helps we have a new puppy too, and that little Stella Von with her puppy breath makes me want to keep my head resting on the pillow.
The weather is nice and cool here in Fayetteville, AR.
I live in a small town 45 minutes outside of Las Vegas with no stop lights. Our weather can’t make its mind up. We’ll have a week in the 70′s and then it drops back down to the 50′s making it hard to adjust my wardrobe. Is it T-shirt weather today or am I gonna need that scarf & jacket? I know 50 degrees isn’t cold for most people, but for a desert rat it’s chilly!
Originally from St. Louis,MO. Relocated recently to Providence, RI.
Denver, CO where this week I have:
-walked through three inches of snow wearing flats on bare feet. BRRR!!!
-got sunburned at an on-site meeting the next morning
-am anticipating more snow for the weekend, but
-enjoying the blue skies out the window behind me right now.
Work: boring
Location: Detroit Lakes, Minnesota (200 miles north of Minneapolis; 50 miles East of Fargo, ND)
Grand Haven MI. It is cold (35 degrees) and grey here today. Spring is definitely on my mind but it will be a bit before it arrives here…
Another Washington, DC reader here (though I commute in from Northern Virginia every day). Looking out my office window at the Lincoln Memorial is also far more interesting than work. Ah well.
It’s a degree above freezing here in Milwaukee, WI and we are also suffering spring fever after the bitter temps of the last few months.
Hey Fish! I am writing from Cisco, TX. (A very small town on I-20 halfway between Abilene and Fort Worth.) I Check your blog everyday and have been reading it for years. It has been a constant in my life as I have changed jobs, ect. Love your posts!
Hi from South Florida – Hollywood/Ft Lauderdale; where it is a gorgeous 74* and sunny–
Raspberries are what awesomeness is made of. I’m partial to raspberries on the neck, they tickle.
I’m in Toronto, all the way up yonder Canada.
I had much trouble getting up for work today too, might have something to do with getting up for the 6am morning shift the 9th day in a row.
Usually lurking and doing that in Brussels, Belgium. Today we had rain, snow, clouds and amazingly pretty sunshine and blue skies, all in the course of 8 hours…and people say the weather in England is crazy.
Hey! Am reading you from Paris, with some sun and nice weather. Fun game..
Hei from Oslo, Norway!
Weather: sunny, -12 degrees Celsius, lots of snow and a postcardish view from the kitchen window!
My attention span is also running low: our 1st child is just around the corner (3 days overtime and contractions just started…) Still had to read your blog before getting some rest
Oh, and congratulations with The Boy (dorks are the best!)
I’m in St Louis where I’m fairly certain Mother Nature has multiple personalities. Today, though, mid-50s. Can’t complain.
I live on a farm about a half-hour outside of Spokane, WA.
Kodiak, Alaska
27f and snowy…..
Yes, spring fever is here and I think I will go crazy if we get more snow. Here in Iowa, another foot is predicted for tomorrow. Enjoy the 60s, Fish!
Sitting in sunny St. Louis. Just walked to get my lunch and didn’t want to come back to the office!!
P.S. I love this game! It’s awesome to see how many St. Louis fans you have!!!
NY, NY! Not so cold today but windy as all hell.
another spring-fever-feeling lurker,
I’m in Huntington Beach, CA
Grey and depressing looking skies and hovering around 30 in metro Detroit with more snow on the way today during what seems to be a never-ending winter.
Worst of all, my office is in the basement, so I don’t even have the option of watching anything out a window, hawks or otherwise. *sigh*
Aloha from Honolulu
Reading from Heidelberg, Germany: wearing lederhosen, eating sauerkraut, drinking beer.
It’s (oddly) pretty excellent weather here in Roscoe, NY. It hit 50 for three days in a row, which is probably the biggest false positive because there’s no way we’ll get out of the winter without another couple of blizzards!
Bentonville, AR 60 degrees
In serious need of a latte and to switch my Pandora station to Show Tunes to perk me up.
Glad it’s Thursday. I’ll exercise my spring fever tomorrow. Frolicking outdoors or maybe just sitting in a park reading a book. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies sounds like a good one…http://tinyurl.com/7r6t9q
Indianapolis, Indiana. Where it’s sunny, but nowhere near the temperatures that you’re feeling. Still, I should be thankful for small things like sunshine when we’ve had the last few days be snowy/rainy.
Been lurking for a while from Ajman, United Arab Emirates (Try finding THAT on a map). Like an earlier commenter from Bahrain said, sandstorms were so bad today there was very little visibility outside. Temp in the 60s.
lima, peru! 70′s and gorgeous…
Born and raised in and around Houston but I live outside of LA now in the San Gabriel Valley.
Manchester, England
It’s about -2, snowy and windy. basically it’s not much fun!!!!
Oh, man. I so completely hear you on the gaining weight while being in love thing. And I swear it happned over night. Four years into it, I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been. On the flip-side, I’m also the most in love I’ve ever been. By the by, I’m writing you from sunny San Diego.
Spearfish, SD 44 degrees and another snow storm coming in this afternoon. I’m home nursing MY BOY back to health after his appendectomy yesterday.
Chevy Chase, MD…it’s a suburb of Washington, DC, about 0.5 miles north of the DC border. It’s a windy day, but comfortable temps in the mid-50′s.
Hello from Atlanta, GA. Love your posts.
I live in Atlanta. The weather is amazing here. The sad thing is that I was laid off a few weeks ago and feel too depressed to really enjoy the nice weather. Fish, How’d you find a job so fast?
…upstate New York…
January was on the warmish side for us here in Tucson, but Monday the snow reached the valley floor! It was pretty for the half hour it lasted.
I live in Atlanta. The weather is amazing here. The sad thing is that I was laid off a few weeks ago and feel too depressed to really enjoy the nice weather. Fish, How’d you find a job so fast?
Howdy from Charlottesville, Virginia– from a somewhat cluttered desk with a nice window and a chair that also knows the effects of love on ones width.
I’m in Birmingham, Alabama. Enjoying FABULOUS weather and wishing I could work from outside… sigh.
It’s warm here in Orlando… about 85 degrees today!
St. Paul Minnesota, about 26 derees with a windchill of 14, overcast for days. Can’t take this frozen tundra state. Snows here into April, still cold on Memorial Day. Can’t swim in the pool until mid-June. I hate it.
It’s raining in San Andreas, California. I’m smack-dab in the middle of the Sierra Nevada Foothills and can escape to the snow whenever I want. Staying in bed is the best … my favorite thing to do is hold my freezing-cold feet against the Boyfriend’s calves until he wakes up. Pure evil.
i’m in pittsburgh, pa.
it was nearly 70 yesterday, but has dropped back to the 30s today. not quite long enough for me to get spring fever, though i have had the worst time focusing. part of it is that i haven’t seen my boyfriend since yesterday. also, i left for work with the cat stretched out on my bed. and work today has been much more boring than usual.
i think that i’m just ready for the weekend.
Love made me fat, too. Good thing he broke up with me yesterday, just in time to start training for March’s half-marathon!
San Luis Obispo, CA
San Jose, California where it finally rains this week but not enough. We may have water shortage this summer.
Hey from Fargo ND. It is a balmy 24 degrees here today. I can say balmy because last week it was -20.
I’m in Eugene Oregon. It’s cold. I have no desire to work out either…not because of a guy (sadly) but because I want to curl up in my sweatpants to try and stay warm. I have never wanted spring to come so badly in my life.
Reading your blog from Chambéry,France but I’m a miami native : )
Ok, so its not just me with the weight gain for love. I feel better. Its a cold rainy 50ish degrees here in Los Altos, CA ( south of San Francisco)
ottawa, on canada (brrrrr)
I’m from LA, where the weather is currently bipolar. My skin is throwing a fit!
I’ve also been having trouble fitting into my jeans, but I wish I could blame it on a boy! Does the Dork Lord have a cousin, perchance?
I am in Sacramento, California, the State Capitol of California, and it is about 55 degrees and overcast today!

South Kingstown, Rhode Island.
I’m in Fort Collins, CO
Richmond VA
Edmond, OK
I was surprised to see so many other Oklahomans on here! We’ve been enjoying the warm weather too (and the early tornado season..). Also, one gal a little up said that Will Rogers said that whole wait five minutes if you don’t like the weather thing, but he was actually quoting Mark Twain. Plus, loads of cities in other states say that too… Doesn’t make it any less true, though. Ice two weeks ago, this week tornadoes and warm weather!
I´m in Buenos Aires, Argentina, enjoying a mild summer day of 28°C.
SEATTLE and if you lived here you could go see Sixteen Candles on the big screen this weekend and drool over Jake Ryan- swwwwwooooooooon!
ps. Your happiness these days transcends.
I’m from Montreal, weather here is raining (what’s with that in the middle of February), so I’m sure by this time next week, we’ll all be sick as dogs lol
I am here in Huntington Beach, CA. It is 48 degrees and rain is expected tomorrow. Love your blog Fish! You are pretty cool
Sioux City, IA
Here it rained and was in the 50′s earlier in the week, then was sunny, now they say it’ll snow tomorrow. Currently 31 degrees. I can’t wait for winter to be over…
Yet another lurker here – I can’t wait to do my morning runs in the kinds of temperatures you are experiencing now, but as it is, I was running at 5:45 am about 8 degrees C below freezing with a few flurries in the pitch black here in Vernon, British Columbia in the usually beautiful Okanagan Valley. Not abnormal temps, but I am over it and ready for the warm again!
Boise, Idaho
I wonder if I wore my This Fish t-shirt from years ago, whether the other Boisean would say, “HI!” if she saw me!
It snowed this morning, but was sunny this afternoon. And I also have adult ADD/ADHD.
Started reading you last year in Winston-Salem NC. Currently in rual Montana. Spring like here, highs in the 30′s. Love the blog.
Its 2 p.m., which is 12 hours ahead of your time and -27 C with heave snow and wind, as I am in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan (Central Asia).Have been reading your blog since 2006 on a very regular basis..Thanks Fish..

Good for you, glad to know things are going good in love and work for you…
I’m in your old haunt, NYC….
Hi there
Im in Belfast , N.Ireland. Its grey and drizzling (think that might be a local term for really light almost not there rain – but still makes hair goes pouffy).
I put on a lot of weight when i met met my boy 2 years ago (anniversary tomorrow actually) but took drastic action in September 08 and have nearly dropped all of it. 3st 10lbs (52lbs to you)off already and 14lbs to go.
Go for that run now!!!
Hi Fish! I’m in Berln, Germany – it’s sunny, snowing and -6 degrees Celsius outside.
Reading you from Lausanne, Switzerland. Current weather: blue sky (first time in weeks !!), 1°Celsius, not snowing ( for the moment…)
Looking forward to spring time, VERY, VERY much !
When I moved here from San Diego Ca, besides the word “Wicked”, I heard from all the natives “If you don’t like the weather, wait a minuet it will change.”
Plainville, MA between Boston MA and Providence RI right down Rt 1 from the home of the New England Patriots.
Another lurker here from London
LL x
I’m in Johnstown, PA
It’s a blistery freezing out with no end in sight of warmth until about O…I’d say June.
I am in Philadelphia where it is currently cloudy, gray, and 42 degrees.
I’m in Bozeman Montana, where it is cold but sunny today . . . and we won’t see 70F until June, if we’re lucky
Lurker here. I live in Helena, Arkansas.
Sherman, Texas, right up 75. Same weather here.
I’m another Bob from Dallas (actually, Plano) who runs, albeit not at 5:30 a.m.
I’m stuck here in Dayton Ohio suffering from Spring fever and jeans that are too tight as well. The sun is shining outside my office window which I know is just false hope that its warm because I know damn well it’s a crisp 35 degrees out there. Everyone walking looks like they have somewhere to be…I’m not bitter I swear lol.
Fish- you are the perfect distraction to this thing I call a career. I vote that Fridays should technically be considered a weekend…no one really works on Friday’s anyway right?
In Miami, also enjoying some nice weather!
In Edmond, OK wishing I was out rather than in as well!
Love Love Love the fish.
Currently reading you on a lovely friday afternoon in Manhattan. Have been spending what spare time I have at work reading your posts from years ago in an attempt to fit into the big apple after having moved here from Melbourne, Australia.
Reading from St. Louis, Missouri. Working from home but it’s sunny and cold from what I can tell. Haven’t been outside yet. Love the blog.
I don’t really comment much…but I thought I would let you know (in case you didn’t notice) that you now have a comment for every day of ther year (365). So I’ll start your new year out:)…Oh yeah and I’m from Muncie, IN
Hi! I’m in Washington D.C.
It’s 50 and windy. Did you really expect weather reports from around the world?
Not sure how I stumbled across your blog… but I’ve been following along for awhile.
Sunny and cold…
Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada
Santa Monica, CA — it’s wet and maybe 50. Acutally loving the “weather.”
Have enjoyed your writing from the sidelines for years. In Austin.
Hi! FYI I’m in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Just above Minot,ND (I have to put that in there because no one knows where Saskatchewan is). It’s flippin COLD here!!! It’s -20 but -28 with the windchill! That’s celsius, I’ll look up the fahrenheit for you….. : -4 and -18 respectively. Flippin cold, am I right? It’s actually the normal temperature… but we had a couple of days around zero celsius last week and now I’m spoiled. XP
Fish,
Another long time lucker here from Kansas City, MO. I’m also in a fairly new relationship and I don’t think there’s anything better then waking up to the smell of his skin. I always enjoy reading your blog.
Minneapolis, MN
I am in Davis, CA. It’s in the 60s and raining.
Hello Fish! from beautiful Kelowna, British Columbia Canada. Land of lakes, vineyards, orchards and wineries …and of course my sweet little girly home decor boutique called Belle Maison!
I’m here in Oklahoma City, OK and I’ve been reading your blog for over 3 years now. I’m so glad you have kept it going! Oh, and congrats on what sounds like a very wonderful relationship…hope you guys have a very Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
I’m up north in Plano TX. Our weather is the same weird Spring like as Dallas as we’re just the next county north. I
I’m thinking Mother Nature is going to throw a nasty ice storm at us any time now. I hope it isn’t on March 6-8 during the Irish Festival. That will bum me out and cause attendance to be lower.
Everyone in the DFW area, come on down to Fair Park. Friday evening, all day/evening Sat & Sun. http://www.ntif.org for information.
Edinburgh, Scotland.
Westerville, Ohio here.
New York, NY
Currently procrastinating in chilly Toronto, ON, Canada.
But at least it’s sunny out!
I am reading from Waterloo, Ontario, Canada!
loma linda, ca but currently kettering, oh
Hi Fish, I’m in Bellingham, Washington and have been reading your blog for a few years now. I turned Tea from Dallas on to it, who is a faithful fan now. I learned of you from Brandon’s blog, thank God he’s back. I only read two blogs. Today, at age 51, I’m going to go get my hair dyed from (fake) blonde highlights to maybe fake brown and real grey highlights.
Happy Valentine’s Day.
I’m ensconced in my comfortable chair, wearing some grubby scrubs, and Nick Nolte’s hair. Yuk!
Anyhow, love your blog. I’m in central Indiana, where we had some days in the 50′s during the week, but now that ugly white stuff is back.
Wow, 365 comments here, Send me some traffic! Please LoL
On the 11th we almost hit 70 here in Camden, NJ. Spring fever is right.
I’m in Seoul, South Korea by way of Chattanooga, TN.
I think my name makes my city obvious
We’d been having great weather until yesterday: just when I decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day with candlelight dinner on the patio
I’m reading about your spring fever from Madrid and share the sentiment from all the way across the pond. I just got in a few days ago. The sky outside the window of my new flat is beautifully blue AND sunny but, I must confess, I never shook off the spring fever from last year. I’ve been traveling Europe and refusing to open even one textbook. The grades will fade on the paper but THIS? This is breathtaking and I wouldn’t trade it for all of the spring fever cures in the world.
Hi there Fish,
It’s in the 60′s also, in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
I don’t work since I was laid off. But I can get distracted by anything to postpone my grueling job search. The past 5 minutes I’ve been watching the dogs outside my window here in Manhattan. Love your blog. You inspired me to start one of my own ‘tudor city girl’ on blogspot.
Thanks for the entertainment during these lonely days!

Townsville, North Queensland, Australia. 31 degress Celcius, with occasional cyclone threats & flooding.
I began reading you in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I’ve kept up with you from Sydney Australia for about 2 years now, but will soon be moving back to Vancouver at the end of the month! Thanks for all your insights
Dayton, Ohio!
I am also currently “fat” from my relationship! Haha
I live in New Haven, CT and read your blog at work in Guilford, which is on the Shoreline of CT (on Long Island Sound).
Following your blog from Madison, Wisconsin, where more snow is predicted.
Cambridge, Ontario
Cold and grey, but still beautiful, in Paris! Should also be working, but instead I am reading blogs.
Love your blog. I’m a Scots girl, from Glasgow.
Provo, UT ukkk. Couldn’t be any more stale.
Atlanta, GA. Wishing to be anywhere other than at work….preferably on a beach with the body I hope to get back since getting with my “boy”.
I’m painfully single here in Dallas, and I’ve lost 35 pounds since September. Maybe you’re onto something. I’m glad to be single??
Rainy San Francisco, CA.
Yet another “Fatter in a relationship” fan here. Lost fourty pounds before I met my nerdly dude… 10-15 pounds have crept back. Doesnt help that he’s a skinny boy thats trying to PUT ON weight as opposed to taking it off. ahhh welll.. Now … just to get through the insanely long winter and get myself back in gear. Wanna be ready for bathing suit season!!
Congrats on finding your nerdly dude!
Oh yeah… I’m reading from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Blog on Fish!
Washington DC. Like a true wonk, I’ve been skimming through the comments and would love to see a graphical representation of your audience: age, sex, location. I think that would be kind of cool. Maybe you could get some programmer you know (oh, wait! – what about The DL?) to build a web database that will take everyone’s generic info and create graphs and maps and stuff. How cool would that be? (‘Cause we all love graphs and maps, don’t we?) (Don’t we?)
Treasure Island, Florida. Reading your blog at work.
I’m currently at work in Onalaska, Wisconsin! I live in Holmen, WI. Cold and dreary today but not snowing so I’m not complaining!
Nesting hawks pretty much trump anything else, any day. Sadly, my entire pillow is the cool side of the pillow. It’s way too cold (Holly, MI).
Ah, that lovely warm February weather…We had it last week here in Chapel Hill, NC but now it’s back to being 45. ugh.
Kailua, Hawaii
Gulf Breeze, FLorida
Blue skies, slight breeze, 75 degrees…..Boynton Beach, FL
Not a regular commenter, but I’ve been a regular reader and all around enjoyer of your blog for the last 5 years or so. So hello! From Calgary, AB, Canada.
It’s just below the freezing mark here, but the sun is shining and the sky is a blazingly bright blue.
Ugh. 38 degrees in Pittsburgh. But sunny. And I leave for Anaheim, CA on Thursday where it should be at least 60-ish.
I’m so very, very late…but I’ve been doing my own daydreaming in Nicaragua. Now back home in Santa Barbara, CA…at work, catching up on my oh-so-important favorite blogs.
Hi Fish. Been reading your blog since your NYC days. I’m in Salt Lake City, Utah. Moved here from SO CAL 2 yrs. ago.
Sometimes when I read your blog at work, I’m in Plano, TX. Other times, when I ready your blog at home, I’m in Garland, TX. Enjoy love – whatever size it is.
Melbourne, Australia.
It’s still hazy here from the fires…but a nice 30 degrees (celsius) today and lovely T’shirt weather.
It’s pretty easy to focus here in Hong Kong (moved here from Dallas almost a year ago). The office windows usually offer a stunning view that makes concentrating difficult, but today it’s icky and smoggy and we can’t see across the harbor. (Cool outside, though. About 60ish.)
Of course, I’m also in post-vacation zen mode. That’s staving off the spring fever a bit.
Good ‘ol St. Paul, MN. Otherwise known as the tundra …
Ok I’m soo jealous of those in sunny climes.
Cardiff, Wales is 8 degrees celsuis, and the skies are just one tone of grey.
Also suffering from one of those ‘get your butt moving days’; the workload is expanding rapidly.
At work in Ardmore, Ok. looking out the front door at a sunny 61 degree day. Wishing i were at home with the boy instead-we have completely opposite schedules during the week but have weekends off together. He totally loves the extra softness when we cuddle!
I’m in Cincinnati, OH. At least I live there. I travel all over the United States every week. Today, I’m in Atlanta on a layover and then on to Tampa.
In Temple, TX.
I’ve been following your blog a good 2-3 years now after finding it randomly off someone’s blogroll and only recently realized… I know 3 of your siblings: Audrey, Joyce, and (briefly) Nora. Crazy! Audrey’s about my age and I grew up in the McKinney wards. I laughed hysterically for never realizing for so long who you were. I really had a “it’s a small world” moment when I read an archived post where you listed your siblings’ names and realized how close we actually brush. How funny.
Started reading your blog in Melbourne, Australia but switched to Amsterdam, The Netherlands a while ago, where it’s cold, crisp and sunny.
Here in Peterborough, New Hampshire, there will be no spring to be feverish about for quite some time. We are expecting snow this evening – about 5 inches, I hear. I visit your writing about every other week. It’s been years. Best of luck with His Nerdiness!
I started reading your blog while living the single life in Port Angeles, WA. Then I moved to Sequim, WA. And then to Bellingham, WA, where I met a guy. Then we moved to Everett, WA. And then we got married, bought a house, moved to Lake Stevens, WA, and had a baby. I’ve been all over the place but I never stopped reading your blog!
New Orleans, LA!! Happy Mardi Gras everyone!!! Love your blog.
In cold and chilly Boston…where I work at a cancer hospital…where I just got promoted to Project Manager (I am now my own boss as well as the boss of many scattered throughout the nation – agh!)…and am so effing lost/overwhelmed/FREAKED OUT BY the sudden RESPONSIBILITY of it all that I am taking solace in my favorite blogs instead of cleaning out my predecessor’s six file cabinets full of paperwork and crap dating back to 2000 It’s a hard time of year to get motivated and stay focused (at least I think so!) so good luck!!!
Have been following along here in Washington, DC for a good number of years now… today’s snow is a stark contrast to the 80 degrees and sun I soaked up in Miami and Nassau over the weekend. Where’s my fruity umbrella drink? Wah!
You’ve gotten me through some VERY boring work days in West Palm Beach, FL and Edmonton, Alberta, Canada! (And yes, I have NO idea why I moved back to this snow covered land either).
Hey! You keep me entertained and interested from Mexico. Last week I read you from Tokyo. But mostly from Mexico.
All the way from Brussels, Belgium. Europe that is.
Freezing my butt off in Ontario Canada, about an hour and a half north of Toronto….the highest part in the province actually – we get ALL the “good” weather up here!
Northern Nevada. It is cold and I am envious of your 60 degrees.
Must. Move. Soon.
I live in Idaho Falls, Idaho. And it is still VERY winter here!!! It gets about 10 below everynight and we had snow all week. And it’s only going to get worse!! UUGGHHHH!!!!
Looks like I’m late to the party!
I’m pretty cold here in Detroit. We were teased with a couple of 60-degree days, but we’ve been stuck below freezing ever since. :-/
Reading all the way from Darlaston, West Midlands, United Kingdom. No Snow – thank god. 1 foot bought the country to it’s knees two weeks ago!

Good ol’ boyfiend diet, mine consisted of late night cheesecakes, bottles o’ beer, and anything potato-ey. And it never fails that it shows first on us women, le sigh.
San Francisco, rainy chilly cold the past week, and finally a sunny day. All is well now.
I’m in Anchorage, Alaska! I’m suprised there are so many of us!
I saw this headline across the top of my gmail feeder immediately after changing my facebook status to “is easily distracted,” so of course I had to click on it and read! How profoundly perfect!
Hopelessly unfocused in Washington, DC.
Herzliya, Israel
Been reading your blog for years.

Anyway from Johannesburg South Africa
Hey there, I’m in Chandler, AZ and I am SO ready for summer! Please can it get above 80 just once so I can warm up?! Taking the dog out for her morning walk when it’s 40 makes me want to cry.
I started reading your blog in India and now continue reading it 3 years later in Palo Alto, California. BTW, you probably already have this or his nerdiness can show you how to set a traffic tracker on your website and you can see where all your visitors come from. It’s pretty interesting sometimes.
Here in Bucks County PA, technically I’m not at work but I’m catching up on my blog reading when I should be cleaning so that should count for something.
Norfolk Island, South Pacific.
Sub-tropical mostly.
i am quite far far away… located in Tel Aviv, Israel
Love your blog, been reading for I-don’t-know-how-long! Live in Trenton, Ohio just north of Cincinnati. Work in Oxford, Ohio- home of Miami University. Suffering badly from spring fever and mother nature’s torment of high winds and snow flurries. Spring can’t come soon enough! As soon as it hits 65 I am taking the top off my Jeep and going for a nice long drive!
I don’t usually comment but I always read your blog! I’m in Jerusalem, not sure if you had a “Yerushalmi” commenter yet, so figured it’s time to be heard. I love you
Hello Fish!!
I’ve been reading forever and never ever commented!!! Your writing has helped me more than you’ll ever know… But I’m sure you hear that all the time!
I’m currenty being distracted in snowy, grey, cold Edmonton, Alberta, Canada – looking out my office window at the lovely view of oil refineries. Sigh.

Washington, DC – hi!
it Is springtime here in the foothills of the appalachian mountains of SC. and i’ve been itching to get outside and kayak a river. watch things bloom on the riverbank, just float.
I’m super late on this one. I haven’t read your blog in almost a year, so I was catching up on this Dork Lord fellow… it’s funny, I stopped getting into your blog so much because I found a big dork of my own and just kind of lost track of a lot of my favorite singles sites. Weird how it seems everyone I know has found love recently.
Anyways, I’m a reader (again) from a VERY small town called Topping in Virginia.
