young and unafraid

The last time my sister popped out a kid, I got a new job and an eventual fiance out of the deal. Same day. Just like that. Well, she delivered again. A baby and a new job! I resigned this afternoon and in a few weeks will start the new, better paying and hopefully better appreciating gig. I feel a million things right now and one of them is an intense desire to listen to the newest Glee soundtrack over and over. Though, it occurs to me that the Glee thing is probably unrelated.

Oh, and I’m told the gravy train stops here. Somebody’s gettin’ his manstuff snipped.

Congrats Heather! The new niece is gorgeous and the job is well deserved. If that gravy train is running out perhaps the next jackpot will be closer to home. Congratulations again!

  • Saw your tweet and thought, “Yay!” and then “Brave!” Now that I know you had a job lined up first, I say “Yay!” and then “Smart!”

Congrats on the new niece and the new gig.

Congrats on the new job…and being an auntie. It sounds like a pretty good combination!

  • I am so excited for you. Especially since I didn’t get the job I was applying for. Oh well, you win some and I lose some, right? ;)

  • CONGRATS!!! on both mind you… good smelling baby fresh niece and the new job. Sometimes we have to pay our dues and I’ve been in your place. Unfortunately for me, I don’t have friends/relatives with lucky uterus’.

Congratulations to you and Sister Fish! It seems a little unbalanced to get so much joy at once, but hopefully the happiness will last for a while!

Woo-hoo! Adorable niece, and good luck with the new job!

  • I’m really so incredibly happy for you…I wish my sister would pop out a kid…maybe your luck would rub off on me! ;)

    Wow. No kidding!

    Well good for you girl!

Wow! Congrats on the new niece (who most definitely adorable), and the new job! I’m glad things are coming up roses for you. :-)

Sincerely happy for such exciting developments of urs! Congratulations Heather:)

  • AWWW but what if you need a new job down the road? What can SHE do for YOU to make up for this travesty? Booooooo!

Speaking of babies I have a super duper cute baby poll/contesty thingey on my blog right now- a “Who’s Your Daddy” game to match up one of my baby clients to the bridal client parents! LOL It’s a baby filled week I guess.

  • Booyah!

Good — glad you got a new job. Was kinda sick of hearing your whine about it and I wrongly assumed you weren’t doing anything to change your situation. Glad to hear you are changing it. Whatever happened to the yoga teacher dream?

Um, “Booyah!” – You can just go ahead and stick with “Alyssa.” Keeps it simpler for everyone. We all recognize the snotty tone as yours, so the alternate identity is totally unnecessary. Also, I know you’ve made it pretty clear that you don’t read well between the lines, but I more than hinted that I was looking for a job.

LOL Fish you are the best.

BTW, my brother got snipped and 12 months later he and his wife welcomed their 4th child, Mr. Surprise! You’re In That .01%! So you never know; more lucky days may be ahead! hahaha

Abby’s beautiful – congrats to your family & good luck in your new job.

I wondered if this was the same sister. How far apart are her kiddos? My best friend had 3 in 3 years, 4 months and 1 week! :) They are my “nieces” and so wonderful!

Congrats on the new job! I am happy for you and starting to think I need to leave the soul draining place I work as well. And get the Glee soundtrack.

Thanks for sharing your life with us Fish; I appreciate and enjoy your writing! (and the sweet baby pics!)

  • Carrie Boo

Yay! Congrats! I know how soul sucking a bad job can be.. Told you things would get better!

are you quoting Les Mis in the title or am i getting ahead of myself? :)

  • Mindy

Congrats! I start a new job tomorrow and am so excited at the prospect of new beginnings and challenges (and less drama and irritation!). Hopefully you will be able to take some time off in between. Good luck!

Congrats on the job. Getting a little worried about your soon-to-be former job. A job isn’t worth getting depressed over because it may be gone tomorrow or another on the way. I spent nearly two years less than gainfully employed in the worst economy in NYC since the beginning of time. I got ripped off by creepy clients, jumped through a million hoops, knocked on doors, accumulated debt, kicked myself over and over for mouthing off to “new” boss at old job who ended up getting canned six months after she canned me. Finally, something came through. It’s only half-time at a great rate with a lot of potential for additional income in freelance. They wanted to hire me full=time but didn’t have the budget yet. So, I’ve got 5-6 months of contractor work that will buy me time to decide whether I like it or not in a better economy. Or I could find another PT opportunity doing something different that I love to balance this one and carry on like that. So, things are definitely on the up all over. But I’m going to have the best summer ever because I’m going to have a lot of freedom to enjoy it and still pay the rent. Woo hoo!

hooray! no one deserves to be at a place that makes them miserable, and no one who loves someone who hates their job deserves it either. congrats on leaving a shitty situation.

Congratulations! I will hereafter live vicariously through you. Internets, read into that whatever you may. Cough, cough.
