I am really sorry to hear that. How ironic, considering the title of your last post. I am a firm believer in intuition.

  • Oh no…I’m so sorry to hear this. You seem so talented, something will come your way.

I promise you will get to the other side of this.

    My thoughts are with you.

  • Rachel

I’m in the same boat! My company was recently acquired and my whole department is getting the axe. We all knew this was coming though, so it wasn’t a surprise. But it still hurt when they told me that I was being terminated haha. I was hoping to do some traveling after I leave…but considering the severance I am getting, the outlook is pretty bleak. Good luck with everything!!

  • Keep your head up girl.

    Remember those doors.

    One will open.

    Just follow your gut.

    Wishing you the best…

  • Oh no. :( I am so sorry. Much much positive energy for doors opening pronto!

You need a good marg and your friends!

  • I am not within your field, but am in HR just the same. I’d be happy to get your resume to my HR network. You may not want to send your resume to a random HR stranger…but my offer to assist in any way possible stands.

  • Kate

You need a good marg and your girlfriends!

  • Oh honey, I’m sorry. xo

  • Jonathan

    XO and chin up, honey.

I got laid off from a job I absolutely loved back in July. After 3 days of freaking out I found a new job immediatly and it’s so far turned out to be even better than the one I had. Here’s hoping the same happens for you!

  • I’m so sorry! My thoughts are with you.

  • So sorry.

    $ending po$itive thought$ your way….

  • Bridget

I lost my job in July. I’m so sorry…

It WILL get better. I promise.

  • Heather

Sometimes we only see and experience ‘cracks’ in our lives because that is where the light gets in… eventually.

I’m so sorry – hang in there.

  • Carrie Boo

Oh Fish you poor thing! You just went through this! On the plus side they’ve extended unemployment benefits… *hugs* is all I can give! Stay strong – it all works out eventually!

  • Jessica

I’m sorry dear! Such sucky news. You always seem to come out on top in the end though and I’m rootin’ for you!!!

  • Ugh. That really sucks. Is there any chance of picking up with the travel blog again?

    *sending positive vibes*

    Hang tough!

    This too shall pass!

With one door closin’…just means another is about to open! Keep the Faith, Fish.

Time to go to Europe again = )

I hate that this happened to you. And I’m scared that this is just the beginning. BUT, MAYBE, MAYBE, this will just lead to something better. Here’s to hoping!

  • andi

i think we all should send you a dollar – you should give us a po box number and everyone that reads can send a dollar = lower financial burden and a little bit of happiness! if you give me a po box number, i’ll send you a dollar!

  • Tela

I know what being laid off feels like, but remember the harder you fall the higher you bounce back! Love reading your blog and best wishes to you.

  • Good luck Fish. I hope some amazing door opens for you!

  • Rebecca

    Heather,

I don’t know you, but when I read this post I gasped, feeling so sad for you. Shock too. You bring a little piece of joy to me with every post, just so you know, I wish you all the best.

  • CO Becky

Sorry to hear that Fish…sending some good karma from Colorado.

  • tali

Ugh. I’m so sorry you have to go through this again. I don’t suppose it helps to know that you aren’t alone in this. I hope this will open some wonderful possibilities for you.

  • I agree with one of the above comments! We should start a Fish Fund, if it’s ok with you of course. In some weird way, I think we all feel like your friends!

  • Fish,

Just found your blog, and WHAMO! I know you know about the doors closing & opening line, so I’ll leave it at that. Your writing has style – keep it up and keep us posted!

  • Barbara E.

Well that sucks big time. I’m really sorry. & I’m totally on board with andi’s send fish a dollar idea. I’d send you five!

  • cat

Don’t let the Man get you down Fish, good things will come.

  • Mish

I’m so sorry! But remember, everything happens for reason. I know, it sucks to hear now, but one day you’ll look back and say, THANK GOD! or you wouldn’t have been led to bigger and better things. Curl up to Sir Hal, have a good cry and feel sorry for yourself (oh, and drink a few). Self-pity is good, for day. After that get out there and show the world how wonderful you are!

  • Ironic. I just found out a total of twelve of us have one month to find a new job. I feel your pain.

  • Bee

Bugger. Positive thoughts coming atchya from sunny Oz. It’ll all be okay. What doesn’t kill you…..can just scar u for life. ;)

But seriously, u seem to be so resilient I don’t imagine this will set u back for long. Bigger and better things baby!

  • Well that’s ****ty. Sending positive vibes your way.

  • I’m always really bad at offer nice words when they’re needed most. I’m so sorry. I should leave it there or else I’ll start bringing up things like long runs in the morning, no longer the need to shave your legs everyday, and a commute-less life. It’s like I try to find the silver lining, but come come off as trirte…my bad! :)

I hope things work out and good things come your way! j

  • Stacy

So sorry to hear that. Best of luck in getting back on your feet as soon as possible!

  • Ooooh, bad. I hope everything is ok.

  • I am so sorry to hear that. No fair! I am sure that you’re meant for bigger & better things and that at some point you’ll be able to look back and see how this made something great possible. Remember… last time you were in a similar situation you were paid to travel around Europe! :) Sending happy thoughts your way…

  • Marcy

Oh my, SO sorry to hear that. ((hug))

  • Damn. Sorry to hear this.

  • Damn. Sorry to hear this.

  • Kim

Oh, Heather. That’s terrible news — which you already know.

No measure of trite cliches from me about windows closing and doors opening or whatever, will make you feel any better.

But I do hope that soon, you’ll be able to look back and see how this situation turned out for the best. Don’t know what that will be yet… but that’ll come. It’s just going to hurt for a bit.

    Thoughts are with you.

  • I just escaped by our layoffs. I’m so sorry you didn’t, and I hope you got a kickass severance package.

  • dar

    O Fish, I’m so sorry!!

  • Don

F ‘em but keep ‘em close. Take well deserved ‘chill’ break. Then wishing you happy hunting. My friend just got laid off from NARAS (grammys). What does that say – entertainment being our greatest export. As Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland and B.B. King sang “laissez les bon temps roulez!”

  • Leslie

I’m sending thoughts and prayers from St. Louis. Your words have cheered me up so many times and I wish I could do the same for you.

  • ss

    so sorry…. good luck, Fish!

  • tricia

I’m so sorry. So sorry. I know you’ll bounce back, but that’s cold comfort right now.

  • Liz

Aww..I feel your pain. I was laid off on Monday from a job I LOVED and relocated from Boston to Grand Rapids to have. I feel your pain my friend.

  • I’m so sorry. I’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

  • Angela

Apply for unemployment ASAP! It’s not much but it’s something and it takes a while to get it rolling…at least it does in FL, where everything is slow! I went through a layoff last Nov. so I can surely empathize. ‘Hope you find something quicker than I did.
