Laura and I went to see Easy A (hi-larious) on Sunday, and - before I get to the part where we discuss how no one is fooling us with someone so undeniably beautiful and charming playing the role of a high school nobody – one of the previews was for the Christina Aguilera/Cher burlesque flick. All I can say is, Oh dear. Actually, what I said at the time – and what will probably live out as the truth - was
“I know this will come as a surprise to you, but I’m kind of a gigantic sucker for singing and/or dancing movies. I will be compelled to see this.”
“I’m shocked.”
“I also may or may not have seen Honey no fewer than six times.”
“So hard to believe.”
What actually is shocking is that it’s Thursday and I still haven’t seen Tuesday’s episode of Glee. I know. But I promised my almost-sister-in-law I’d do a “quick” website for her and oh, hey thirty something hours later, that puppy is up but I’m withering away in a wasteland totally devoid of peppy song and dance numbers and teen angst. This must be rectified.
DO not hold out any longer. It was an amazing episode!
I’m also a sucker for song and dance movies … I think it all goes back to Dirty Dancing. Which is why it disturbs me that Jennifer Grey is 50. I was a kid when Dirty Dancing was new, but for some reason the fact that Baby is 50 makes me feel old.
Did you share my obsession with Grease & Grease 2 when you were little? I was dying to be a Pink Lady-my best friend & I begged our moms to make us Pink Lady jackets. We would even find sticks in the yard and pretend smoke them.
I’m also a sucker for those, too. It looks fun, even if terrible.
I actually really liked “Easy A.” And I knew a few girls in high school who were beautiful bookworms that had very limited social circles, so I found it believable enough.
Hardly at all embarrassed to admit that I love the movie Honey.
Also, this might have been the best Glee epi ever. ‘
I also believe that Hollywood’s versions of nerds, geeks, and wallflowers is kinda silly. Of course, I’m a bit biased, and I think most of what Hollywood does is ridiculous. But they got it right with “Glee!”
And put me down as another child who was obsessed with both “Grease” movies. (“Grease 2″ AND “Honey” have both been on TV again recently. Heaven!)
When I was a kid I wanted to do musicals on Broadway. AND be a Rockette (sp?). My complete and utter lack of coordination didn’t phase me one bit, lol!
Oh you young ones…walk with me as we enter the “Musical Hall of Shame.” See on your right is Beach Blanket Bingo and on your left is Viva Las Vegas!! So embarassing…
I want to see Easy A so badly! I hate to admit it but I really liked Mean Girls and this kinda reminds me of that. But Cher in a burlesque movie? I need to see the preview but I kinda cringed my nose a bit there.
I love, love dance movies too. Did you watch Step Up3D?
Oh, and I’m catching Tuesday’s Glee episode only tonight too. The new season seems like it’s going to be a darn good one.
