Boy, did I miss you guys! I’ve got many things to tell you – like how I spent Thanksgiving in a place called Uncertain, Texas (a bluntly obvious and yet appropriate metaphor). But first, I wanted to get a little color up on these walls.
of note: I was not involved much (read: at all) in the design aspect of the new page, so please bear that in mind when leaving your two cents in the jar. I believe we’re also collecting two cents on Facebook.
The new site *IS* weird, but you are as witty and wonderful as ever.
It’s not the greatest site design I’ve ever seen, but let’s be honest: website design is not why I read your blog! My only real complain would be that there doesn’t seem to be a way to access you favorite entries or archives, like we could on the previous site (or maybe I’m just missing it). Otherwise, so very glad to have you back!
I miss being able to scroll through the entire entry at a glance and only click ahead if I wanted to read comments.
But, happy to have you back!
You – not the design – is why we are here. “Upgrades” are necessarily a good thing. Especially when you have no control or input.
Certainly glad to see you are back!
I meant to say *aren’t* a good thing….
Hmm.. not a fan of this but of course I’ll still keep reading. I too miss the fact that we can’t get at the archives easily. And all the old comments have disappeared too – unless that’s just on my screen
Is there a way to get this back into an RSS feed? Not gonna lie, I didn’t try that hard to figure it out, but I also have no idea what I’m doing. I <3 my google reader.
Hi Fish – I know you had very little (i.e., nothing) to do with the new design of your post, but are you able to request any changes to it? Obviously, as commentators have said already above, the new design won’t deter me from reading. But as a relative newcomer to your blog (I’ve been reading for about a year or so), I was really enjoying reading the archives in order to catch up on your current story. I hadn’t finished catching up yet! If there’s anyway to restore the easy-access to archives, along with the links to your own personal favorite posts, I’d be very grateful. Thanks for continuing to write! – Joy
Fish,
I’e been reading for god knows how long. Lived in Boston, then moved to nyc as well (a couple years behind you). I will, of course, keep reading the blog. Love it. My only issue (with the design, not with you) is the “Read More” click to read the entire post. I get that ivillage wants to up it’s page visits, but it breaks up the fluidity of your writing. Also, I’m still confused about the RSS feed.
Libby
Hi Heather, I’ve been reading for many years via my RSS reader. I didn’t even know you were back because I’ve been waiting for the feed to let me know. But I can’t see any feed here on the new design. (I don’t read hundred of websites, only thirty or so blog, but being able to read them all via RSS is soooooo much easier than going to each web page, one by one. I don’t know if I’ll be visiting as often without the feed to let me know you’ve posted…)
