The Dork Lord’s parents took us to see Cirque du Soleil: Ovo this weekend (it was our Christmas gift; we’ve had an eight week build up). And all I have to say is, boy am I glad I never saw that show as a kid because everything – and I do mean everything – I experienced after would have earned so few Awesome Points in comparison. Holy. Badass. During the first act, I leaned over to my almost-sister-in-law,
“I’ve decided what I want to be when I grow up. It’s not too late, right?”
“No way.”
I’m gonna look into the job requirements, so don’t be surprised if you start hearing rumors of my incredible flexibility and uncanny knack to look ah-mazing in spandex.
And if your name is Teak, and you are ignoring my email asking for your mailing address, don’t make me beg. I’ll do it via video, wearing spandex and as I’m pre-Cirque training, I guarantee you don’t want that.
Dude.. There was this kid in my high school, who was skinny, drum major, nerdy, you can picture him. Let’s just say that he was not the most popular person in our class, but still super nice. And then, through the magic of Facebook I find out that he is now an acrobat for a Cirque show in Vegas. Holy muscles! I don’t know how he got so ripped. And the ways he can bend his body (per the pictures) would make any girl weak in the knees.
So yes, for all you band kids aspiring to one day be cirque acrobats, there is hope!
I saw OVO in Toronto 2 summers ago and it was so much fun! A friend of my husband is an aerial hoops performer in Quidam! It’s not too late!
I LOVE CIRQUE! I want to see the show in Vegas.
I saw O in Vegas many years ago. It was INCREDIBLE!
Cirque do Soleil is so awesome! I can watch that for hours and hours and be mesmerized.
I did the same thing too after the first one I saw, I went looking on their web page for how to become a performer and looked up you tube videos on how to become a contortionist. Then I continued going to my day (desk) job…
Back when I was in middle school when La Nouba first came out my parents decided to go. I was gymnastics at the time, and asked them to let me go with them. They said no, saying I wouldn’t like it.
When they came home, one of the first things out of my mother’s mouth was how much I would have liked the show…
Six or so years later they took my for my birthday, long after my gymnastic days.
Which show did you see?
Ovo!
