Marriage license? Check!
We’re getting married in five days – what a crazy, crazy feeling that is. Mostly because I’ve felt like we were married for a really long time, so I didn’t expect the legal bit of it to feel so… big.
I’ve made two trips out to the seamstress since Thursday and although the dress didn’t look a whole lot different from Thursday to Sunday, it did get things like boning in the bodice and a hemline. Inch by inch, we’re getting there!
Same with the house. I keep thinking I’ll be able to wrap things up, put away the tools (at least until after the honeymoon), mop the dang floor and take a few pictures. But the construction just keeps on keeping on. Tonight, no matter what, I will get the hallway sanded, painted and say enough. House guests arrive tomorrow.
Heather…you just enjoy your week. Do what you need to do and when you’re ready, you’ll share your pictures.
Have fun!
That’s when it hit me that we were REALLY getting married. When the out of town guests arrived (husband’s family). Enjoy it and enjoy the well deserved honeymoon when it is over!
I can’t believe you’ve taken on 3 of life’s major stressers, ALL AT THE SAME TIME! New job, marriage, new house…and all without having a nervous breakdown, that’s amazing!
Do you need help tonight? Seriously — I’ll come over. Recall that I bought an 80 year old house 2 years ago this month…
All you need to think about now is HONEYMOON… HONEYMOON… HONEYMOON…. and everything will be fine!
Congratulations ahead of time.
I hope your mother has told you waht to expect on the honeymoon. Newly married men can be quite … impatient. I’m told most women get used to “things” eventually.
Congratulations. Enjoy the next three weeks! You both deserve it.
I have to know – after all that bother, do you like what the seamstress is managing, dress-wise?
Old enough to be your mom, I have loved your blog since 2002 (I got the year right, yes?)…and, as I am an actual mom, I just want to tell you it has been so wonderful to see you become the wonderful young woman — and truly talented writer — that you are.
You are a true original, with a work ethic that is nothing short of impressive.
All my love to you & the “Dork Lord”…and keep on doing what you do so well! And: (ok, a bit of mom-like advice here…) STOP the “DOING” and savor just BEING as you approach your wedding day.
Hugs & love to the bride and groom…you have grown and matured SO much from Boston, to NY, to Texas.
Bless you both & have a beautiful wedding day. May your love last always.
An “old” long-time fan,
Kathi
Yay! I can’t wait to see pictures!
Wow! It’s so exciting!!!!! You are going to be a GORGEOUS bride!!!!
I am sick.
I just decided – given some bizarre sense of nostalgia from the fact that you are getting married and how blissfully happy I am for you – to start reading your blog again. From the beginning.
Heather, I quote:
“I’m a lost cause. Will die alone. It will be a short, peppy funeral, though. Promise.” (August 1, 2002)
So not dying alone. So not.
I have said that so many times, I decided to thank everyone at my own wedding next month for enduring it all these years.
Anyway. Hugs from another virtual fan.
I just wanted to share that though I will not be at YOUR wedding on Saturday, I will be at A wedding and I will pretend I’m at yours and raise a toast to you and the Dork Lord. Hope you enjoy that gelato I sponsored! HONEYMOON!
We are 6 weeks from tying the knot so excited and thrilled for you both xx
Aw, you’re getting married on my 30th birthday! Congratulations, I’m excited for you
