If there were such a thing as a This Fish Needs a Bicycle t-shirt would you buy one?
Designs are in the works (for both bike and fish t's) and I have every faith that they're going to be hellawickedcool. I'll post them as soon as they're ready. But for now, I'd just like to gague interest. You know, so as not cart before the horse. Or the bike before the fish. Whatever.
Takers?
(As far as price, I'm thinking in the $12-$15 range. Details to come.)
(And, um whether to your pleasure or dismay... they will not be pink. Unless you wash them with red socks or something. But I leave that up to you.)
Update: Okay, Okay! There will be PINK shirts available. Ordering info coming up soon.
Posted by This Fish at February 2, 2005 01:55 PMSure. Sounds fun.
Posted by: Steph at February 2, 2005 02:00 PMyeah depending on the price, i mean as long as it's not more than a t-shirt should cost yeah
Posted by: ak at February 2, 2005 02:03 PMYes, especially if you use the pretty pinks and oranges that are on your site.
Posted by: Robin Alexa at February 2, 2005 02:05 PMSure would!
Abso-effing-lutely!

Posted by: Casie at February 2, 2005 02:34 PMI would like to pre-order 365 shirts, please. It'll fit nicely into my plan to only have to do laundry once a year.
Posted by: me at February 2, 2005 02:35 PMoh yes.
because even though this fish has a bicycle, i need him to be reminded of who the fish is and who the bicycle is.
Posted by: kristine at February 2, 2005 02:38 PMYes! Pink please!
A Fish shirt would be fabulous!
Posted by: Laurie at February 2, 2005 02:51 PMYes, and for my friends too!

Posted by: red at February 2, 2005 02:55 PMMe too! Me too!
Posted by: mollysusie at February 2, 2005 03:00 PMPink? Nah.
Dude, why not expand? Instead of T-shirts, make them guayaberras.
I would buy a Fish Guayabera. Seriously.
Posted by: LiAps at February 2, 2005 03:04 PMI would certainly get one - all the way from Houston, Tx
Posted by: Jessica at February 2, 2005 03:06 PMIf you go on a date with me I will buy one and I'll buy dinner as well.
David~~
Yes, ma'am. And definitely pink!
Posted by: A at February 2, 2005 03:12 PMI'll take a couple. Can't wait to see them!!
Posted by: Jamie at February 2, 2005 03:15 PMi'm in
Posted by: Alisa at February 2, 2005 03:16 PMHow could one possibly refuse a hellawickedcool ANYTHING? Count me in.
Posted by: Kimberly at February 2, 2005 03:17 PMI've been reading this blog since June. Reading almost daily...checking it is the first thing I do when I get to work. I would definitely like a t-shirt...reasonably priced, of course. Good luck with the design!
Posted by: peyton at February 2, 2005 03:19 PMyou can put me down for a couple.
Posted by: brando at February 2, 2005 03:27 PMThat would be cool.
Would you consider expanding your empire to bumper stickers? I'd definitely get one of those too.
Posted by: Lady Crumpet at February 2, 2005 03:28 PMyou bet your ass! a fish shirt would rock MY face off!
Posted by: kimmikim at February 2, 2005 03:29 PMYou bet. I think that's awesome.
Posted by: Scarlett at February 2, 2005 03:32 PMI'd buy one only if the price was under $10 and it wasn't pink.
Posted by: Amy at February 2, 2005 03:39 PMAs they say in the UP - You betcha!! It sounds awesome! I'm in.
Posted by: lawyerchik1 at February 2, 2005 03:46 PMYes indeed, Portland can use a bit of This Fish
Posted by: noellebert at February 2, 2005 03:49 PMI'm in. And I will look forward to explaining it to everyone at the gym in Paris. (If I wore a t-shirt anyplace but the gym, I would surely be deported).
Posted by: Coquette at February 2, 2005 03:51 PMI think I'd look way too gay if I was walking around in a pink and orange This Fish shirt...not that there's anything wrong with it
Posted by: Dubs at February 2, 2005 03:57 PMI would definetely get one!! i assume the price is in US $!!
I wanted to thank you for your blog as well as for introducing me to dooce.com
HS
Posted by: Hannah at February 2, 2005 04:01 PMBut of course!
Posted by: Krista at February 2, 2005 04:01 PMOh, me too! Me too!
Posted by: Amber at February 2, 2005 04:03 PMtotally
Posted by: IAP at February 2, 2005 04:07 PMyup - this long time lurker would even come out of hiding for a t-shirt...i'm guessing it will be pink?
Posted by: herbe at February 2, 2005 04:07 PMYes but make real sizes like XL.
I shall buy one and wear it with pride:)
You should do one design for fish and another for bicycles. As a loyal fan, I'd be interested, but pink just ain't my color.
Posted by: Clint at February 2, 2005 04:10 PMYes, yes, and yes again. And I'll buy them as gifts for my incredibly independent girlfriends who really want to settle down, be taken care of and have a brood. (Kind of, gasp, like me.)
Posted by: Africankelli at February 2, 2005 04:10 PMI would purchase one. As long as the t-shirt color was not pink or white. (i'm a redhead and look poor in most shades of pink.)
Posted by: Janet at February 2, 2005 04:20 PMMaybe, if the shirts are silkscreened.
Posted by: Mason at February 2, 2005 04:22 PMjesus, people, they're not pink. it says so right there in the post.
Posted by: kate at February 2, 2005 04:24 PMCan I get an autographed one?
Posted by: Howard at February 2, 2005 04:48 PMJust don't be an ASS and charge like $7.95 for shipping and "handling".
I'd spring for one -- I'm a fish who loves bikes.
Sad that it won't be pink, though. You sure that can't be one option?
Posted by: PinkStiletto at February 2, 2005 05:38 PMHoly trendy-girlfriend-gift, batman! Fish, you are a one-woman marketing machine.
Kudos.
Posted by: PLD at February 2, 2005 05:51 PMI would buy one, totally.
Posted by: Jen at February 2, 2005 06:05 PMI'd buy one. Might even get more orders for you by wearing it. This is San Francisco, you know. A lot of the bicycles here are, um, men's.
Posted by: Shanteuse at February 2, 2005 08:04 PMMOST DEFINITELY!!! :)
Posted by: Ashleigh at February 2, 2005 09:27 PMoh yay, i wasn't really feeling the whole pink thing, on a button down shirt it's totally okay, but a t-shirt, that's pushing it. and to get it for $12, yeah i'd def get one
Posted by: ak at February 2, 2005 09:30 PMI'll want one, but only if you use your logo at the top. I actually wouldn't mind a ribbed tank top. (They'd probably be cheaper.) Spring, thank God and whoever else, will be here soon.
Posted by: trisha ann at February 2, 2005 09:51 PMFish you are a bad kitty! You keep changing your post so our comments that came before your changes look silly for asking certain questions. At 2:05 p.m. when I posted you didn't make any mention of colours (like pink) !!!! bad kitty
Posted by: Robin at February 2, 2005 09:59 PMAs an ardent cyclist and a huge fan of fish in general, you betcha! I'd wear it with pride as I bring my pet fish home from the pet store. On my bicycle, of course.
Posted by: Carmi at February 2, 2005 10:10 PMIf you can ship it to me in Sydney, Australia, I'll take one for sure.
Posted by: Rebecca at February 2, 2005 10:39 PMNow, would you actually have WORN these shirts before sending them out?
Kidding! KIDDING!!
:: ducks, covers and runs ::
Posted by: Lex at February 2, 2005 10:42 PMIf it were the same pretty colors as your site i would!
Posted by: tinker at February 2, 2005 11:12 PMYeah I would if you accepted credit cards. LOL Would it actually say This Fish Needs A Bicycle? Might be a good thing to wear to a bar or club to keep the riff raff away (or attract those who like challenges...hmmm...) ;)
Posted by: Kate at February 2, 2005 11:18 PMI am sorry I can't claim that it would "rock MY face off" as someone else posted. But I would definately buy one.
Posted by: Sarah at February 2, 2005 11:23 PMDepending on the design, I'd buy one...and not JUST because I like this site, but because the premise of the whole thing puts my love life (right now)in perspective...
Will the quote be included on the T-shirt? (Are there copyright issues with that notion?)
Also, I like my tees fitted, so will the said tees be those one-size-fits-all kind of Smalls, Mediums, Xtra larges or will they be the body-conscious cutie tees?
If that part of the prototype is still in the works, please consider fitted (versus loose I'll-only-wear-it-to-bed) kind of T-shirts
Posted by: Jane at February 2, 2005 11:24 PM1, XL.
Posted by: Frankenstein at February 2, 2005 11:27 PMYes, please.
one spagettti strap tank
one fitted v-neck short sleeved tee
one oversized XXL to sleep in
...and I vote for a design as close to your web site graphics as possible.
Posted by: Vicki at February 2, 2005 11:37 PMi'd pay TOP DOLLAR. top dollar, i tell you!
Posted by: julia at February 3, 2005 12:55 AMi have a feeling that my want to purchase a shirt is... well rather unimportant and unneccessay due to the outrageous display of support. but i figure i will tell you anyways just so i can say that i actually, tangibly supported the "this fish needs a bicycle" t-shirt. sounds like a great idea.
Posted by: rachel at February 3, 2005 01:37 AMCould you make long ones like those tshirts one wears as pj's/frumpy dont feel like getting outta bed kind ?
Posted by: IEN at February 3, 2005 01:47 AMNo. *This* fish *has* a bicycle, and has had him for 22 years, her first, best, and only bicycle. Wearing a slogan on one's chest advertising for a new bicycle when one already owns the rolls royce of bicycles would be superfluous. And tacky.
But I did vote for you for best blog design.
Posted by: Supermom at February 3, 2005 03:32 AMI would wear one! Especially I pink one. (Guess I'll have to buy some red socks..) I'm not big on t-shirts, but would always gladly wear one to the gym. Would give me an excuse to chat up some other Londoners...!
Go for it!
Posted by: Island Girl at February 3, 2005 06:32 AMCan you send mine to Amsterdam?
Posted by: Ben at February 3, 2005 08:28 AMSure, count me in!
Posted by: Sondra at February 3, 2005 09:13 AMi'm with supermom in that i have a bike already - but if we could have, say, a little tank top with the quote on? And i so love your colors.
Posted by: liz at February 3, 2005 09:22 AMMe too. A fish-fan from Italy :)
Posted by: Matteo at February 3, 2005 09:26 AMyes please :o)
Posted by: tina at February 3, 2005 09:53 AMYes, definitely!
Posted by: Kristin at February 3, 2005 10:01 AMIf you ship them to London, I'm in!!!
Posted by: elise at February 3, 2005 10:06 AMOh yeah!
Posted by: GrumpyBunny at February 3, 2005 10:21 AMme too - also pink please, i'm from england so would you ship internationally...? You could sell them on ebay...lol - this is sooooo a great idea...
Posted by: Kelly Fisher at February 3, 2005 10:27 AMYes!!! I want one.
Posted by: lindie at February 3, 2005 10:29 AMNo
Posted by: Mike at February 3, 2005 11:07 AMinterested.
Posted by: leah at February 3, 2005 11:21 AMim interested
Posted by: michelle at February 3, 2005 11:39 AMAny guy that says Yes automatically gets a Chicken McAsskicking.
Posted by: IRB at February 3, 2005 11:58 AMUm, I want one NOW. I, too, already have a bicycle, but I'm thinking if I crossed out "needs a" and wrote in "loves her", my little bike would get a chuckle out of it every time I wore it to bed.
Posted by: Dawn at February 3, 2005 11:59 AMYes Please.
But you would have to do larger sizes for me to wear them. *This* *Fish* is a busty one.
My husband likes your site so wearing a shirt advertising for a Fish would not insult him in the least as he would understand that I am wearing it in support of you, not an extramarital fling.
Semantics issue ... those of you who already have bicycles likely would say you need those bicycles, right? Therefore, the slogan doesn't necessarily suggest you want something extra-relationshipal ... just that you need what you have. :-)
Posted by: Clint at February 3, 2005 12:42 PMIt's a subtle and elegant way to declare the single status. Not that the wearer is on the prowl but probably good for alumni networking events, and other offline marketing tracks where potenial bikes are around.
Posted by: BB at February 3, 2005 01:02 PMi'm thinkin' yes, but this designer has gotta see it first, you know, it's a design thing.
although if it reads, "this fish needs a bicycle." don't know that MY girl would be so impressed with that.
only if pink.
Posted by: pinky at February 3, 2005 01:36 PMI'll add a "yes" to the column (or is a phalanx now?). I always wanted to have my artist friends make some designs and then submit them to you but that would have required getting off of my ass.
Looking forward to the prototypes.
(Speaking of the design, perhaps you could have a contest, with people submitting drawings and ideas and then voting on their favorites. Could make for an even stronger buying public and a lot of fun and little work in terms of entries [y'know, if you ever *did* want to take a day off].)
:)
Posted by: Michael R at February 3, 2005 02:05 PMP.S. I look forward to seeing someone wearing one of the shirts around town. I remember once seeing a girl wearing a "Blogger" t-shirt and I wanted to say "nice t-shirt" (like they did "nice pants" in that ad campaign) but I was too shy.
Posted by: Michael R at February 3, 2005 02:06 PMGreat idea! This fellow blogger would love herself a nice pink shirt to wear out on her ambitious lil' expedicions through the big crazy city! To say I'm down would be an understatement.
Posted by: V. at February 3, 2005 02:24 PMLOL. I just went back and read the comments about wanting pink/not wanting pink. We must be very annoying commentors.
Posted by: pinky at February 3, 2005 02:48 PMyou MUST make a t-shirt! I'll buy several.
Posted by: Molly at February 3, 2005 04:08 PMOh come on, PINK, PINK, PINK!!!!!!!
Posted by: Bailey at February 3, 2005 09:22 PMHey guys, she said they would NOT BE PINK! Let's start a petition for pink!
Posted by: Bailey at February 3, 2005 09:24 PMyea, my friends and i have adopted it as a slogan, too. we'd be down for at least six!
Posted by: shark at February 3, 2005 10:22 PMyeah, I'd buy one, and probably know a few people who would be interested too.
Posted by: Rebecca at February 3, 2005 11:20 PMOh yes.. I want to be the 1st Australian to be wearing one...
Posted by: deeleea at February 3, 2005 11:31 PMyes yes. i would sport one.
Posted by: Flora at February 4, 2005 01:04 AMI visited this blog and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt???
Posted by: Plantation at February 4, 2005 01:40 AMCount me in for two.
Posted by: Lisa M at February 4, 2005 11:09 AMDefinately!
Posted by: therese at February 4, 2005 05:11 PMP.S. Pink is good! It is consistent w/ the this fish vibe!
Posted by: therese at February 4, 2005 05:12 PMhell yes!
this fish has been reading your fish for quite a while, and would enjoy with a very large grin sporting such a tee :)
American Apparel is sweat shop free...
Count me in for one as well. Who has the pink petition because I can't imagine it not being pink!
Posted by: Bell at February 5, 2005 10:57 AMHi...I recommended your site to my daugter in college so that she can see an example of good narrative.
I would buy her a tshirt when they are available, and one for me too! I vote for keeping your blog logo on the shirt, and I wouldnt mind washing it with red sox if necessary.
Posted by: Diana at February 6, 2005 07:01 PMI would totally buy one.
Posted by: jason at February 6, 2005 11:56 PMI love the logo esp. with the tagline! (Don't change a thing unless it's broke). So, yes to a tee for me in small! I personally don't care for the color pink but it works wonders for ur current logo, so reconsider the color. GoGrrlGo!
Posted by: GoGrrlGo at February 7, 2005 03:12 PMDefinitely would buy a pink one!!
Posted by: The Pink Panther at February 8, 2005 04:30 PM
