it's raining, it's pouring

Am sitting in monkey office, sporting soaked pants and shoes, wringing out purse and wondering what kind of cruel joke God is playing. Am in lucky possession of corner office and from all eight windows in said office can see that not a single drop of rain is still falling. Perfect.

Am quite ecstatic about this evening's lease signing. Not that am giddy to be locked into year-long lease, but am simply happy to have somewhere to live. Somewhere, must add, with great ammenities such as great neighbors and massage-giving roommate. Yee!

Must admit that am nervous about how the Great Move of 2003 is going to affect Reluctant Kitten. RK seems to be conforming to ways of normal kitten as of late and would hate for her to revert to hiding under bed behavior as a result of being uprooted. Am fairly certain that will end up sending RK to expensive kitten psychologist once she hits those rebellious teen years and starts experimenting heavily with tuna and catnip.

Just wanted to say that you are as funny as ever (I was going to put "amusing" but didn't want you to go all Joe Pesci on me) and it's a great treat to read what you write. Perhaps you and RK can go to family therapy and meet other mothers and kittens who are dealing with tough issues like this.

congrats on the new place! maybe this will give you a new "lease" on life! (groooooaaaaannnn!) no, seriously, this is great news! a new place can really shake things up in life, and especially a new place that isn't on the same street as an ex! hooray!

Congratulations on finding a new place. Best of luck with the move (the unpacking is always the worst part for me).

As for the Reluctant Kitten, I think she'll adjust. Keep whispering to her about great adventure and the like.

Cats are fairly resilient, especially if there are no other animals to compete with in the new digs. RK might want a little massage action, too.

Didn't RK ever hit the psycho kitten stage?

Congratulations. I am to be assuming that new pad is convienently far away from J's new digs?

More importantly, how is pad's proximity to churc-- I mean, Fenway Park?

Congrats on the new place! I'm sure RK will be fine, my two have been through the whole move-thing about three times now and they always seem to end up all right. Something that worked for me was, if you have a cat carrier for her, sleep with an old towel or old T-shirt for a few nights and put it in the carrier - then leave the carrier open in random room in new digs, and she'll have somewhere comforting she can go to feel safe rather than being stuck under a bed. :) Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.

New moves and fresh starts are always exciting and rejeuvenating. Congratulations - it's a blessing, one that sometimes I wish I could inflict on myself. What a great thing!

Yay for you!
