I know – it looks bad, but it’s how they are marked as part of a managed feral colony. The vet does it to indicate they are spayed and vaccinated so that no animal control people will try to take them or any cat rescues and put them through the trauma of surgery only to realize they are already fixed. It looks horrible, but it’s standard.
That really does sound like a great idea; they can’t wear collars indicating same. I hope they do it when the cat’s unconscious and that it’s not too painful when healing. :-/
They do it while they’re still under for their surgery and it’s cauterized so it heals very quickly. I could touch kitten’s ear the next day without her seeming to notice one big.
Thanks for sharing. Both are adorable.
OK, after watching the kitty video, I clicked one of your other videos. What the hell is going on in “And then I Hairsprayed the Em Effer”?!?
I want Vera. Speak to your mother-in-law, ok? And you sound quite southern, Miss Fish.
Such a cute video. Frances Baby Houseman looks like my Coby. So glad they’re getting more comfortable around you.
VERY sweet!! My dog is nonplussed….. But I think they are adorable!
Aww they are so cute. I think it’s great that you’re taking care of them.
Awwwww…
I’m afraid to know what happened to the kitty’s ear…

the ear thing- it’s fine! i’m keeping one that’s had that done – she’s the sweetest thing ever and it doesn’t bother her the slightest.
So….how’s everyone feeling now? Better, I’m hoping.
you still there, fish?
