If you’ve watched TV or looked at a newspaper over the past few days, I don’t need to tell you how bad this is. It’s really, really bad. I keep thinking back to how the whole country rallied around NYC during 9/11, and now it’s time to return the favor.
A mere $10 gets you a drink and automatic entry into a raffle for gift cards, clothing, CDs, books, and a host of other prizes
We’ll also be passing the hat for additional donations, so drink up and loosen your purse strings. All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross and AmeriCares specifically for Hurricane Katrina relief.
Bring some friends, make it a post-work hang, or just throw your money in the kitty and leave. Look, you’re going to drink anyway…might as well put that $10 to good use as well.
When: Thursday, September 8, 6-8 p.m.
Where: Stitch Bar – 247 West 37th St.
(between 7th and 8th Ave.)

I can’t decide if you’re being facetious or not, but if not…while I appreciate the sentiment and all, there’s very little magic to any of this. And I think most people are capable of much, much more.
I will keep the event in mind, if I am in the city at that time. I fly into NY Wed.
I am glad to see that there are things being done even from independend groups.
I lived in Hammond LA for 5 and 1/2 years, and now I am back in Brazil chocked with everything that is going on in Louisiana. I just want to thank you for helping my “second home state.”

Hooray for ordinary people – they always know what to do. Nice one, Fish. Here in the UK we’re kind of amazed that the US authorities clearly didn’t have a proper emergency plan for this predicted disaster. My heart goes out to all those poor people experiencing what looks like a living hell at present

Hello again from Baton Rouge. Thanks for posting this. We Louisianians like nothing better than a good strong cocktail–even better that it’s for the best cause possible right now. As I said the other day, keep doing what you’re doing. It’s nice to read your posts.
